Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has been granted a temporary injunction to block the sale and distribution of those pesky mod chips. Until August 31st no one will be able to sell, import or export the devices and any firms with stock will have to release the units to Sony.

Sony has until the end of the month to convince the courts that a permanent ban should be in place, if they do not then sales will resume come September 1st. Here’s hoping Sony can do something to limit the potential for piracy that these chips present.

Ok, glad to hear that, I'm just going to try this to backup CoD5 and try homebrew and stuff, I'm not planning on piracy, because I'm sure I'd get caught, and it's wrong anyway, piracy will cause crappy games, I want to play legit backups and mod, that's why I want this, I understand your point, but also when sony removed OtherOS they stole from the consumers, so what difference does this make? Sony has deep pockets anyways, I'm just saying that they stole from us, if we steal from them it shouldn't be a bigger deal, but I do agree with your point to an extent.

I am 100% sure you never used OtherOS

I am glad they are nipping this in the butt before it spreads out of control like the PSP and Jtag mods did.

But there you get into is the PS3 yours? Microsoft and sony both say the equipment is theirs and customers are just paying a 1 time LEASING FEE to use the equipment. I venture to say if that is the case then SONY and Microsoft should be held accountable for warrantee work indefinitely as its a lifetime lease should be a lifetime warrattee.

I agree with that sony should give lifetime warrantys if thats their claim

Not exactly sure what makes you think that, I used it, not a lot, but I used it occasionally, not to the point where I wouldn't update, although If I knew about the proxies to bypass the system update I would've use them, but the PSjailbreak unlocks a lot of opportunities, I'm just saying them taking away OtherOS is no better than piracy

Like someone said, one person is going to get one, and leak it everywhere. So I don't think we have anything to worry about.
