I borrowed my friend's MW2 to play and I was playing for about an hour when the game started to freeze.
It started freezing at the end of each game, making it so that I'd have to restart my PS3.
When I played Campaign mode, I froze after each mission aswell.

I looked everywhere for a solution to my problem and all I saw was a whole bunch of others with the same problem as I.

I came across this guy who suggested that I do a system restore and then try to play. He said it'd take 7 hours, and I don't want to waste 7 hours restoring to have it end up not working.

So I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if they have - did restoring your PS3 solve this issue?

my 60 gig fat had that problem all the time. I just got a new one then never had the problem before.

Yeah I've heard of the 60gb ones having that problem - but I have the 120 GB. Did you try to restore the whole thing [one that takes really long] before getting a new one?

I'm also experiencing freezes with other games; but I'm able to press my PS3 button on my controller, but the freeze with MW2 doesn't allow me to go press the PS3 button.

yea its annoying since even tho you can press the ps3 button it does not do anything.

So my MW2 is working now perfect, well im not sure for how long but its working right now! I didnt restore. What i did was turn off my PS3 for 20-22 hours (the switch at the back too) to let my ps3 cool down abit and then i cleaned my CD, reinstalled patch & gamedata and right now its working. Hopefully it will still work not only today but a year or 2.

Nice, I might have to try that. Btw, when you say reinstalling the patch, do you mean reinstalling the MW2 patch?

I deleted my patch along with my maps , then redownloaded all and installed the patch when the game asked me to.

Okay I'm officially pissed at my PS3. I got Uncharted today and was playing it, when it started to freeze on me after every mission.

I'm starting to think it's Blu Ray Drive related since it doesn't read my disk until it cools down a little.

Any suggestions as to what I should do? If I tell Sony about my problem, what do you think they'll do about it?
