The RPG sequel will be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 THIS YEAR, and is being directed by FFXIII head Motomu Toriyama, the publisher's confirmed.
A trailer was shown at Square Enix's first Production Department Premier press conference in Japan this morning, in which FFXIII protagonist Lightning crossed swords with an unknown, purple-haired character. (We will find out who this is later!)
he last Final Fantasy game to receive a direct sequel was Final Fantasy X, which saw a follow-up which reused numerous character models, environments and audio.
The Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer will be available for viewing on the official site from January 20.
Square Enix also announced Final Fantasy Type-0 for PSP, which is actually the renamed Agito XIII.

Ive wanted Final Fantasy Versus more then anything since it was announced like 5 years ago.
And yes i said ff13-2 can go get ****ed.
why? because versus was supposed to originally come out the same time has final fantasy 13.
When they released the two videos versus and ff13 at the same time everyone was laughing saying how shit ff13 looks compared to versus.

When is TES:V scheduled for release? I've been waiting for a few years now =D

I agree FFXIII-2 looks real good. Light looks awesome in that armor. The announcement was a shock to me I thought the next FF to come out was going to be FF Versus.
The wait is almost over bro Elder Scrolls V comes out 11-11-11. I saw on amazon that FFXIII-2 is going to be released 12-31-11 but that may or may not be true.

12-31-11 is the end of Q4 I believe, that's a placeholder date. It is likely coming out on Dec. 21, or 12, versus was supposed to come out in march I originally thought
And can't wait for Elder Scrolls
