We missed some big news in theYou must login or register to view this content., it turns out that Sony is not just going to after the PS3 hackers but also the ones who watched or commented in Geohot’s “Jailbroken PS3 3.55 with Homebrew” Youtube video.

Yeah,
. Watched? You’re on Sony’s really long list of people to sue.

What seems to be absurd is that Sony asked Youtube, LLC to provide all information they can get of all the viewers, commentators on the now private Youtube video page – even our private IP addresses.

In addition to that, they also demanding Twitter to reveal the identities of hackers in fail0verflow team as well as @KaKaRoToKS. Well, that’s going to be a hell of documents.

“The discovery they call for in my opinion is overbroad,” George Hotz’ attorney, Stewart Kellar, said in a telephone interview to Wired.

Furthermore, in addition to Sony’s TRO, where geohot was forced to remove the PS3 keys and jailbreak from his site, he is now being ordered to give up all his computer gear to Sony. Stewart Kellar, geohot’s lawyer, is trying to convince the judge otherwise.

And you know Sony isn’t stopping there — they’re still looking for team fail0verflow, KaKaRoTo, Waninkoko, graf_chokolo, Hermes and Kmeaw, who again, most of them anyway, are outside DMCA jurisdiction, I think…

Anyway, back to PSN… Like any situation in life you have three options:

1) Buy a second PS3 (Sony will like you more), hack it or use it for PSN, and do the opposite with your current console;

2) Forget your current hacks and upgrade your console to firmware 3.56 right now;

3) Sit, chill, and wait for future hacks potentially getting you back on PSN … but you know the risks involved with that.

Sony users are at the mercy of updated firmware that suits sony's needs not the user that purchased the console legally. What can they do to you if you looked at a public webpage, or joined a supposed illegal website? How do you know what website is legal or not? Is there a program that filters out websites that might be illegal? NO. There is nothing sony can do for anything mentioned above. What laws were violated by accessing or joining a website? None. Dont read into the legal documents. What you read and what they mean can be very misleading. If you went on Geohotz website, you did nothing wrong, however, if Sony gets their way, they can use some information to monitor some peoples activity on their server, which they have the right to monitor their servers activity, however, the question is , can they legally obtain personal information pertaining to poeple accessing Geohotz website, and how can they prove that the people that accessed his websit used it for illegal activity? You have to violate the law, and it has to be proven that you violated the law before you can be sued or prosecuted.

Sony needs to realize they been bested several times & needs better security & 2 get rid of incompetent employees, They're goin 2 be hackers no matter what you can't sue just cause you can't get your own way if you wanna prevent your product from bein hacked hire the hackers :biggrin:

Do or Do Not, There is No Try
If you haven't heard yet, the Judge just denied Sony's request to subpoena and file suit against the other hackers. This denial also includes YouTube, Twitter, and the other sites that Sony was after to get the hacker's identity. Obviously, the only people who don't think that Sony is going on a ridiculous witch hunt is Sony themselves.

Thank you, point proven. Sony is trying to cross the legality line, and they are doing it when it's too late. Personally, im glad the whole PS3 thing got so bad Sony lost control. They should of gave a shit about their members along time ago. I hope xbox is enjoying their new map packs while we all wait. But, that's just Sony showing us how much they care about their members, AGAIN!! Too late Sony, you will never stop it completely until PS4. This is just a firmware band aid for the PS3.

This if way out of line from sony, Why is it they're taking this so seriously now? They didn't push hard like this when PSP was hacked which is rampant with Piracy, Or PS2. In all seriousness, I will not support a corporation that turns they're back on it's customers JUST BECAUSE they watched a video about they're failure. I will certainly counter sue them if they ever tried to sue me over watching a damn video.:FU:

I don't know if i'll go that far, i just wouldnt buy a ps3 due to the possibility of them being able to do ANYTHING. But they do have nice computers and such.
