Despite huge interest in the franchise, Activision doesn't expect this year's Call of Duty game to be as successful as Call of Duty: Black Ops, the publisher's Chief Financial Officer Thomas Tippl has revealed.
"In order to be prudent and given the enormous success of Black Ops, at this point, we have still planned a retail release in the fall below the levels of success that we have seen with Black Ops," he said talking in a conference call last night.
"So that's very consistent with how we treated that last year."

Activision previously projected that Black Ops wouldn't perform as well as 2009's Modern Warfare 2. It did, of course, going on to out-sell MW2 by 16% during its first week on sale.
But despite the scepticism, Tippl's still convinced this year's CoD will do alright for itself.
"Now having said all of that, I think we have a blockbuster retail release lined up for the fall that we are extremely excited about, which will be hopefully again the biggest game of the year."
It's still not know what this year's Call of Duty game will be or who the developer is behind it. Rumours point to a release of Modern Warfare 3, but we're still putting our money on it being a Call of Duty title from Sledgehammer Games.

I'm tired of call of duty. The developers are trying to put new things into the game but there isn't much room for variation in an FPS that they are trying to keep similar to the previous versions. I myself am looking forward to something different, such as, Killzone 3 and Battlefield 3.

Yeah awesome lobby, support and, customization features... but keep the actual game play relatively simple yet polished. Cmon look at how fun cod2 is!

Black Ops blows. Why? Because their servers are constantly ****ing up, and all you do is LAG. It's not Black Ops anymore. It's LAG OPS. I've stopped playing it because I get kicked 90% of the time, and the rest of the time, I have to waste an entire clip into someone before I kill them. Suck it Black Ops. You were expected to be a WIN, but came out a FAIL.

You do play on PS3 however so... give it a shot on 360 or PC.

I agree, the simple fact that their sever suck balls...I never really liked black ops besides zombies!!!MW2 & 4 still rocks more then black ops...IMO Battlefield 3 is gonna be the new MW2!!

Why? I have no awesome gaming PC, and I REFUSE to pay for online play when it comes to the 360. I know, I know. How can I bitch when the online services are free with the PS3? Because MW2 doesn't have these issues. I'm a COD nerd. :tits:

Dude everyone is talking about Battlefield. I'm fixing to go buy their previous ones. I gotta give these a try.
