Today, Sony Computer Entertainment released the following statement:
Notice: Unauthorized circumvention devices for the PlayStation 3 system have been recently released by hackers. These devices permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software. Use of such devices or software violates the terms of the “System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System” and the “Terms of Services and User Agreement” for the PlayStation Network/Qriocity and its Community Code of Conduct provisions. Violation of the System Software Licence Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System invalidates the consumer guarantee for that system. In addition, copying or playing pirated software is a violation of International Copyright Laws. Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently.
To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.
If you don't have 3.56 installed you don't have the rootkit so how and the hell are they going to catch anyone?
well im on 3.55 still and i received said email containing
"Important: Access to the PlayStation(R)Network and Access to Qriocity(TM) Services Notice

im now thinking f**k this im gonna just delete everything and update, im getting sick of having to run umpteen amounts of progs on my pc just to sign in to psn, and as for playing backups i have the originals anyway. cfw has officially lost its appeal to me now, everything else is just a matter of principle
Got a question...
I backed up all my games onto the hardrive just because my do has already eaten 2 of my disks and it makes me so mad. so since i own the games im playing online surely they cant ban me due to copyright law as i own the software?
It seems that Sony also forgets that all those "Copyright Laws" also allow you to have a SINGLE Backup Copy of your media. So from the legal aspect of it it would be impossible for them to tell if the game was pirated. **** em.
if any one wants to check this out then your sad but it is true however what the copyright law does state is that selling these copies including giving away is a violation of copyright protection placed upon media

I had all my own games backed up, which is 100% legal according to that. I didnt pirate any games. Im not going to waste my bandwidth downloading a massive file just to use more bandwidth to play it. not my style sorry. lol Games are cheap enough to be able to go out and buy them. Although as i saw in another thread some gamesa arent even worth the plastic the disc is made of. like Black Ops. you couldnt pay me to buy/pirate that piece of shit.

yeah lol black ops is so shit i dont reckon its worth the 12.56 gb of hardrive and its legal to back the game up but if you do it to external hard drive and then upload somewhere thats what is illegal however if a game is protected and you back it up for example EA protect there games it is a violation as well

Yeah i was reading about that. All my games were backed up internally. I had no plans on distribution, I just liked how the load times were incredibly fast lol.

i only really ran cfw for load times (fallout 3 goty never crashed once) and the fact that the ps3 did everything 99 times faster than ofw 3.56

They shouldnt hamper the creative minds of the current generation of developers. they should embrace it if anything. After all look what microshaft did with windows phone 7. they use the jailbreak knowledge to fix and re-release their security in the next phone/Console
