When Every Retail PS3 is switched on, it checks if there is a new system update. It does this by going to this following link...

'us' can be changed to any of the following depending on you country

au for Australia
be for Belgium
cn for China
eu for Europe
jp for Japan
kr for Korea
mx for Mexico
nl for Netherlands
ru for Russia
sa for South Africa
tw for Taiwan
uk for United Kingdom

however, Debug PS3's cannot do this as they will update to retail firmware.

They check for system updates through a different URL,

We can use this link to download Debug firmware, but i do not know the effect of Debug firmware being installed on Retail PS3. If you click on the debug link, it give you a link to download the Debug 3.60 firmware

Here is a US 3.60 Debug Firmware Sample

May i just say it wouldnt say its corrupted unless u installed 3.56 or 3.60 without going back to 3.55 ofw fist. The only reason it dose that is to block updates from a usb on a ps3 that has been (offically) jailbroken or cfw before, and by offically I mean updated 2 the next update without being on ofw first.

Trust me i know this as ive seen a mate do it

With rebug, you can link it to your own website and allow the ps3 to download the updates.

Jesus people on this forum are so dumb. Your in a Exploits & Hacks section and you can't even relise that you can't install a debug firmware on a retail console? Don't you think this has been tryed numerous amounts of times. I have gotten close to installing a 1.00 debug straight from XMB on a retail but it needs the right signing keys to install. Having debug firmwares means nothing, devs have had them for years now. Rebug CFW is made based off of Debug OFW.

... Downgrading FAT PS3 to debug firmwares works sometimes.

They check for updates here yes. Blocking or spoofing this was Aarons's DNS purpose.
However, when sony "patched" this, they merely actually read the XI5 pass and version header being sent, and returning a error code, prompting the PS3 to ask for an update...
