(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well I thought I would just make this thread to inform you guy's that this YouTube Tutorial does work. You can find that video here:

I can confirm it works. I went to well your "local hardware store" yesterday and bought a Heat gun. It only cost me about $20. So I said hey screw it and I tried it and I had my doubts that it would not work. And you know what it actually did!

So I suggest if you got a "Rare" Ps3 like I do. This method fixed my 60GB Backwards Compatible Ps3 which can Play Ps1, 2 and 3 games. I do not trust that Ps3 and that is why I am putting it on craigslist tmrw saying nothing is wrong w/ it. Sold as is and no warranty. Going to go and sell it at a McDonald's if I get any bites. Awesome face So I just wanted to get it fixed and out of my hands. But yes if you got any Ps3's like this I suggest you try this and if it works sell it and buy something new. Smile

hairdyer trick does work, just put some arctic silver five on before you do it! YLOD happens when the mobo warps from where it gets so hot causing the gpu or/and cpu to lift up off the mobo. when u do the hairdryer trick, it bends the mobo back straight again so that he cpu and/or gpu come back together with the mobo.

I have a YLOD PS3 (fat 40GB) and it is on firmware 3.30 I think... but I know it is under 3.41 Smile but I haven't even bothered to try this as I have 2 PS3s already, and dont want to buy all the stuff that is needed to repair a YLOD PS3Winky Winky

Btw how mucho do you think I would have to spend buying all those things?

I wouldn't count on that lasting too long. I did that to my 60GB fat PS3 when mine broke, exact same method, exact same video, and it worked fine for about two weeks, then broke again. I ended up having to buy a new PS3.

I used the highest quality heat guns and remover stuff that you could get since my neighbor is big on all this kind of do-it-yourself stuff, he had everything I needed. I hope it lasts for you, but don't be surprised if it breaks again in a few weeks.

I only bought the Heat gun for $20. I did not even go out and buy new thermal paste. =D Just kept whatever has on it. Happy I am selling this on Craigslist though so I could care less whatever happens to it. Sold as Is. But yes I figured it will break after a couple weeks so that is why I am getting rid of it now. Winky Winky
