i spoke to the guy who i bought it from and he gave me a ps3brake.com usb and said i need to install the FW is this true? if it is how do i do it ?

Formatted it to FAT 32 put cant get into recovery mode :/

The PS3 is bricked. The previous person probably tried to downgrade it. I think if you get an lv2diag.self file (not sure which one) and you get a specific usb (i think yours works) and you put 3.55 on it, it fixes it..Or so I've heard..
I have the same problem and I'm too lazy to try fixing it using these steps
