(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I feel that the games coming out these days have no real meaning except for the franchise games. I like to play and go for platinums and most games that comes out by sony are not platinum based and I feel they are a waste of time.

All games should have a platinum no matter how the skill, difficulty or genre it is.

Come on now and speak your minds on this matter.

1st sounds like your problem is with trophies, and here are some pretty good, relatively new, games that aren't hugely franchised.

Dead Island, Spec Ops, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Max Payne 3.

Like Movies and Music, eventually game creators run out of ideas for something good...

Some games are very short these days, because most of them has online mode and they don't really care about making a good story to play offline... But i'm not saying that all games are like that, but some of them... well the story sometimes gets annoying and i just go to play online... I don't play for trophies, i play for fun, so, if i get a trophy ok, if don't, then i don't get stressed because of it, i just really play to have a good time. In the end of the 2012 and in the next year, we'll have more nice games tho, Let's hope they don't do damn short offline mode... I got disappointed sometimes because of it.

Right now is just the dry period for video games, by Christmas there will be more games than you can handle.

My understanding of the reason for the lack of ingenuity in the gaming industry is this:

Too many publishers are investing in IP that sets out to be "the next Call of Duty", or the "the next World of Warcraft". Publishers are only interested in the big hitters. Class B games, like the type that used to come out by devs like Midway, no longer exist. For example, Prototype and Prototype 2 were fairly interesting, half-decent games, but the studio got sacked off because the IP couldn't find AAA appeal. The same goes for Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, albeit that's a more difficult and nuanced case. Investment in new IP is massive, and if return isn't massive the IP is killed. Because investment is massive, there is more at stake, so devs are less inclined to take risks and would rather iterate on the same mechanics and business models. This is why we see so many games like CoD.

For this reason I'm more interested in indie games right now. Investment is low, so devs can take more risks, and good, interesting sequels can follow even if the prequel doesn't garner massive mainstream success. I'm also really interested in games getting Kickstarted and Indiegogoed, as it means publishers are taken out of the loop, and its publishers who impose these 'must-hit-big'-style requirements.

The recipe for an interesting game is: allow devs to be creative and make shit that they want to make. Until publishers take a step back or play no role at all, we'll see the same old stuff out to make a quick buck.

I think that if you want to play a good game so much you shouldn't worry about the trophies. Go back and try out Silent Hill 2, it was a classic.
