The You must login or register to view this content. super-slim Playstation 3 will hit the shelves next month. Some gamers have already come to the conclusion that the purchase of the new PS3 model would be in vain, as the next generation of consoles is likely to be announced in the near future.
“We're going to continue supporting the PS3 for the next few years. Absolutely. And we're going to continue supporting it not only that long, but as long as there is a development spigot that's running hot,” Koller says. “Same thing with PS2... it's kind of stuck around as that old warrior, many years after its launch. But there's still games launching for it.”
The Playstation 2, which launched back in 2000, still has a few games released for it each year. As long as developer interest continues to exist for the Playstation 3 after 2015, Sony will continue to support it as long as necessary.
Whether or not this news changes your opinion about the new super-slim Playstation 3, it's promising to know that Sony will back the PS3 for many years to come, and not abandon it when the next-generation Playstation rolls around.

Economy not good enough for a new console right now. Sony however need a new console something to lead the company forward.

This is true, But we all PS3 users are waiting for the Cross-Game Chat,Better XMB,More hard drive space,Some good launch games, and also maybe we don't need to use a disc anymore to play our games
