There is no risk. If you jailbreak the 3.1.3 then it is really fast and amazing haha

apple wont do anything to your ipod or iphone if its jailbroken but if it does break you can jsut restore then take it apple

spirit freezes my computer every time i try it....i have vista and im wondering if thats why.....but my friends use spirit and it doesnt seem as simple or safe as redsn0w

That's the wonderful thing about being jailbroken...there's really nothing to worry about.
You can always just restore as stated above if a problem were to come up. The majority of my friends have gotten their iphones and ipods jailbroken after messing around with mine.
