If they passed a bill by law, it is legal. Maybe not in Apple's eyes but by law it is. So if you did send it in they have no reason to update it for you, if they did you could...idk what you could do (lol) but you have the right to have a jailbroken iPad. So all over all they most likely wouldn't want to screw with the law unless they were stupid. :happycry:

EZ.

Easy way to avoid this if you were smart and saved your SSH Blobs

Step 1: Download the firmware you currently have You must login or register to view this content.

Step 2: Go to iTunes and press shift+restore on windows or i think cmd+restore on Mac

Step 3: Select the firmware you downloaded and click Restore

Step 4: Let iTunes do its job and restore your iPad to the firmware you downloaded that is jailbreak able

Step 5: Now that you have a non jailbroken iPad that is still compatible for a Jailbreak just send it to Apple to fix and they shouldn't update it

Step 6: When you receive your iPad back just jailbreak it again

i've heard that if you have jailbreakeed your device thay don't take it back.
it's the same as an xbox or ps3 if you jailbreak it and send it back they won't accept it.

yeah exactly that's why Full Restore is needed before sending it to Apple

Thats what I thought jailbreaking or well as the warranty suggests Tampering with the software in anyway voids you warranty. Cos here in the UK they just say its jailbroken and hence cant do anything about it. Just restore your ipad and send it to them

Alright can I just clear this up? Because people still seem to think it's alright.

Is jailbreaking legal? Yes.

Will Apple help you if you have a Jailbroken one? No.

Will Apple update it if you send it to them? They won't help you at all.

Can you replace it in-store? With Jailbreak? No. WITHOUT JAILBREAK? Yes.

I hope this clears everything.
