Do you hip fire and does steady aim really help or do you mostly aim down sites?
Which weapons work best for each method?
Is there one that works well for both?
Is steady aim really worth using?

Steady aim IMO is only sometimes worth it if your sniping. But depending what gun your using firing from the hip can be useful if its a good gun like the scar as that extra half second or so(more as you have to actually press then shoot) can easily add up to you dieing and in certain modes thats no good.

Wait...what?
I use both depending on the range.

If someone is close, I hipfire straight away and then hit L1 to ADS.
Most of the time though, I'm using Slight of hand pro because ADS is so good with almost every gun.

I am error
'To hip - fire'

You should change this to spray and pray. Hip-firing is entirely ineffective in circumstances that aren't in close range (within 5 yards). Steady aim is the lesser alternative for the 3rd perk (under Ninja Pro) as the perk only decreases the size of your cross-hairs (making the line of fire smaller). You could use something that decreases your cross-hairs for something that should only be used within 5 or 10 feet, or you can stop the bricks on your feet from making an ass load of noise when you run, while also staying off Heart Beat sensors.

I recommend the later.

All depends on the range. Up close, begin to hip fire then slowly aim in to increase accuracy. Apart from that I always aim down sights Smile.

I Sell Fifa Coins.
I mostly aim down even if they are like a foot away from me.

Steady aim makes your bullets fire straighter, and the crosshairs smaller for some guns. I only use steady aim for sniper's, sometimes.

Climbing up the ladder
Hip Fire is only good for certain weapons; M4, Famas, AK, SCAR, MP5K, P90, UZI.
If its not good for those weapons, don't hipfire. No need for steady aim.
If its good for those weapons, then why take up a perk tier to barely improve it ? No need for steady aim.

Oh, and to answer the question, it depends whether its one of the weapons mentioned earlier, or a separate one.
