(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); :madGaspk guys just thought i would warn u about this coz it has happend to me and about 700 other people that i know about anyways. it seems that the last update for modern warfare 2 will cause your playstation to get the dreaded yellow light of death (YLOD) it happen me just yesterday wen i was playin a tdm in mw2. this problem is fixable by yourself but NOT recommened and im not gona mess around with the inside of my ps3 and lose the warranty. iv rang sony up and they wont repair it but they will send me out a "repaired" old model that they fixed and i have to pay £130 and send in my ps3. which i wont pay as i already forked out enough money on the ps3 and they expect me to pay more for used unit and because of a problem that i didnt cause is bullshit

heads up if u play mw2 dont play for more than 2hours at a time give ur ps3 time to cool down
u can "clean out" ur ps3 urself bye turing it off at the back, holding down on the eject and turing it back on.

thax 4 reading this and taking d time

plz comment espically if this has happend to you aswell.

YLOD is caused by the ps2 compatibility part overheating because it cannot keep up with the PS3. which is why most new models can't play ps2 games.
it was only the 60GB original version and mine broke last year.

other ps3's can get it but thats by just normal overheating and its harder to do.
YLOD does not fix by itself in 99% of cases, you must ring sony or repair it yourself and risk losing the warranty.

with modern warfare 2 its not causing YLOD but it has caused MANY ps3's to break and be unable to play games without freezing and eventually they become unable to read the discs.
this is because there is a huge amount of data to go from the disc and loading it up constantly makes your blu ray drive work extremely hard(which is why it makes loud noises sometimes).
this is why a huge amount of people want an option to install mw2 to the ps3.

1st of all YLOD isnt caused by a game.
its the overheating of the GPU & CPU "motherboard"
and if you hold EJECT & turn it off and on.
that screws yourps3 up.
just take a vacum 2 all of the vents and suck out the stuff.

exactly what I was going to say.

Lost my buddy to the disk read error for a bit a lot of people have had that problem. I play mw2 more then anyone I know and I have never had a problem with ylod nor have I heard till now of anyone else.

But the disk read I do fear but it hasn't happened aftr 12 days of gameplay I think im safe.

try keeping your ps3 away from any thing and do not put it inside the entertainment center put it on top or move it to another tv were you can.
mw2 is the game right now and most are spending more time then normal causing extra strain. but if you keep it cool its ok I play for 18 hours a day everyday without problem.

YLOD = overheat/hardware failure and ps3s do not have a big rate of failure, ive heard its a 1 in 1000 chance, i hear old ps3s dont have as good of a thermal paste as the new slims but thats only what ive heard

yeah i don't see how a "game" causes the YLOD, its because people have no life and play call of duty for 7 hours straight without realizing it,... and then BAM overheat, OMGGGG its mw2s fault!!!!! NOT. it's called overheated from too much playtime!!!!!!!1

Sony recently released a statement regarding the MW2-YLOD connection. They claim no connection at all. I've built/sold computers for 15-16 years now and I can tell you without a doubt in my mind that the Update has NO CONNECTION with the YLOD. Its simply an unfortunate connection. Remember when those morons blamed the Red Ring on Halo?

Remember... NO CONNECTION.

And also, when it comes to overheating, humidity has just as much to do with it as ventilation, if not more.

I am error
this is really weird that this was posted because saturday night the 20th i was comin home from partyin and i turned on my ps3 and played for about 10min when the dreaded YLOD came on. Needless to say i was furious, but mine did overheat while playin mw2 but there truely is no reason to say that mw2 is causing them to break. Mine was the 1st gen 60GB ps3 which is what 5-6 years old now? So perhaps the other 60GB consoles are going to start going as well due to that fact the the YLOD is a design flaw in the original ps3's. I dont know,, just figured i would post this to say that mine also broke but i do not think it is the game. I did however get my mw2 disc back after ripping apart the disc drive lol Smile, im going to rebuild it tho so i have two lol
