According to the January 2012's NPD figures, Modern Warfare 3 was able to sell a total of 386,000 during the month, fueled by a commercial with three celebrities and zero gameplay footage. To another series that would be great, but Call of Duty is held to a different standard. Call of Duty: Black Ops sold 750,000 units during the month of January last year, meaning that it nearly doubled the sales of Modern Warfare 3.

The question is: is this a sign of Modern Warfare 3 having shorter legs than its predecessors? Battlefield 3 put up a strong fight with sales totaling over 10 million, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive just around the corner ready for an AWP headshot. While the competition is is greater than previous years, it sounds like more than anything that Call of Duty fatigue is beginning to set-in.

I agree with you in a extent, I like COD and it can be fun but with MW 3 I lost interest in the game, I played till last prestiges on almost all CODs but on this one I'm on 3rd and already lost interest, the only reason I still play it is for infected.

As you said I'll buy the next COD to playi with friends but I lost interest on the franchise. Anything while doing with friends it's fun (anything but sex lol) and since all my friends still play it I'll continue to play, but I much rather play anything else.

MW3 is definitely not dying. Pre-order sales for MW3 were a lot higher than in years past. People already have the game / bought it before January.

The issue is people need to realize no matter how good or bad each COd is... It's still COD. We have played the same franchise 5 years straight and 3 games in 3 years. Playing a game til final prestiges every year yet bitching the entire way is stupid. The game like most are frustrating but there is something fun and addictive about it. People complaining about a game is no indication of its populariy nor its success.

Stupid thread imo. Cod will always sell...Maybe not for the game itself, but the name stands there, and the name alone sells alot. Most people now who want to try a shooter go along with a previous cod or the current, so it's not worth saying its dying.. not just yet.

just wait for Halo 4, IW wont know what to do with the series

well i tell you what this was the last cod game i bought gona strt plying another fps game cuz with cod there is always something wrong not to mention camping and op guns then u have the hacking, glitching, boosting, boosting, boosting and 12 yrs old kids screaming while plying so yea i miss those cod4 days ........
