Investigative organization WikiLeaks released classified U.S. military video today showing the killing of more than a dozen Iraqis, including two Reuters employees, with a spokesperson for the whistle-blower group slamming the soldiers involved for their "video game" like behavior.

That video, which is incredibly disturbing and graphic, shows a group of Iraqis walking the streets of New Baghdad, identified as armed "insurgents" by military personnel. The group, which reportedly included Reuters photojournalist Namir Noor-Eldeen and assistant Saeed Chmagh, is gunned down by a pair of Apache attack helicopters. Later, a minivan that appears to come to the assistance of the wounded is fired upon.

Australian journalist and WikiLeaks advisory board member Julian Assange released the video at the National Press Club in Washington. "The behavior of the pilots is like they're playing a video game," said Assange, according to a report from Fox News. "It's like they want to get high-scores in that computer game."

thats the whole point in being in iraq? making it a safer place for iraqis, and taking out people who openly carry ak47s and rpgs is a good step forward lol.

The 'AK47s' were cameras, they just looked like weapons from the Apache. That's why everyone is getting so up-tight about this.

Yeah, that's my view on the situation, although there really is a clear intent in the guy's voice, like when he calls them 'pricks', there's just something sinister about his tone.

Here's to Loonyology!
Shocking video footage. It's seemed as though the gunner WANTED them to be carrying weapons. I could clearly tell they were not carrying weapons, and i'm watching a video!!

Again, another **** up from the armie's out in Iraq. The gunner says they have no forces nearby, hence KNOWING that they would get the go ahead to open fire, as they are the only ones in the area. I don't like the thought of people killing innocent people because of a lust for war. I do hope that wasn't the case here and he genuinely did have good intentions, but it's definitly questionable! Not Happy or Sad

Do a barrel roll!
They requested permission every time, although the laughing and "Bullet through the windscreen look at that" are slightly disturbing.

They are accused of "Video Game Behavior" I say Fukk that, I played allot of video games and all I ever see is Campers, run and guners and noob tubers-Didnt see any of that, also Ive never been asked for permission to engage the enemy- normally I get shot in the back by friendly fire. LMAO.

Id say they did their job, there appeared to be weapons in their hands, and with our troops in the area, they did what they had to do to protect their own. I am sorry to hear about the kids though.

I have a few thoughts on this. First thing is this happens to be one of the tragic stories that comes from a war. Many people loose their life as a casualty of war...enemies, solders, and civilians.

As for the soldiers in the helicopter that performed this horrific event... I guess I have just one rhetorical question which I don't think we can answer sitting in our comfortable homes posting on NGU... PASSING judgement on those forces protecting the freedoms of my country; What would you do?

We don't have any direct experience dealing with this type of situation. We don't know how many times woman and children are used in attacks on soldiers. I'm pretty sure all enemies are not wearing t-shirts to the effect detailing who they are and their intentions. Relate this to Call of Duty... Do you stand in the middle of map just spinning in place, firing in the air and alerting enemies where you are? No, you try and take cover, flank, and mount your attack in a stealthy manner.

Does this mean the soldiers are abstained from responsibility? Does this mean the commanding officers are abstained from responsibility? I'm not sure the answer to that. I think the individuals in the military have to make split second judgement calls based on their experience, training and atmosphere. There is no way they'll be able to bat a thousand.

In my personal opinion they deserved to use that apache the way they did, they deserved it, after all they DID get an 11 killstreak.
