To and fro the island.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); After doing a search, I was unsuccessful in finding a thread of a similar topic, and therefore decided to make one of my own.

The question is simple: "When you are older, whether older meaning out of High School or after College, or simply later in life, what do you want to do with your life?

I have various hopes for my future.

- Journalism: Since I was a child, I've enjoyed writing, and have always wanted to be a novelist. As I've grown, however, that desire to be a novelist has become something a bit more concrete, being a journalist. Becoming even more concrete, in the recent months I have taken a large interest in political happenings, in which being a political journalist would be my desire.

- Politician: Growing up a shy, timid individual, leadership is the last thing many would think I'd be interested in. That said, as I've gotten older my views have become solid, and I've gained quite a few opinions of my own, opinions I think are solid enough to go head to head with that of some of my elders. My mere issue is speaking my opinion. I still am not one to take control in all situations, in which I think it vital to my success in this field. It's something I've been working on quite a bit over the past month or so, and something I think will take time, but I'll break out of this rather timid and pessimistic stage in due time.

My true hope would be to some day become President of The United States, something I really would like to do to help the nation in which has lost many of the values it once had. I'd also very much like to be a Justice, or Chief Justice, in the Supreme Court of The United States. You may think that they are silly desires, but they are that of mine, and if I set my mind to it I think I could achieve one of these things.

Ended up hating all of that too in the end. So now I'm just finishing up my degree (back in college) and truly desire to go back to high school and world history and coach football. Plus my wife teaches physics and biology at the same school thats hiring me. So we get all summer off. That part rocks.Smile^Smile^

The US Navy? What was your RATE?

You, Sir, have been brainwashed!

Why would you do a job which you gain no enjoyment from?

Well, when i was younger i had plans of what i wanted to do, but nothing really was set in stone. And as each year went by i realised over half the things i planned to be were just no go area's for one reason or another. I took a few courses in football coaching, which went well and i ended up giving a hand to a few local, and quite prestigous football clubs at an amateur level. The thing with that is the money. There's only good money in it if you're experienced and have links to the right places, otherwise not much wonga!!

After this i bummed it for a year, chillin with mates and seeing alot of this country i live in! Since, i have stepped into a pivitol role in a company called Stagecraft Crewing Services Ltd. We are based in the music industry and have been up and running for over 20yrs. It's hard work, grafting from early hours some mornings to late at night, sleeping in tents for weeks on end and occasionally being shipped to Norway to put the hours in.

All in all, i love the work i do, and couldn't ask for a better position to be in. I get mega benefits from the hard work i have put in, a pension is in place for me, rent on my house is paid, bills are paid, travel expenses and vehicle's are paid for. I must thank my dad for making this opportunity possible for me.

My plans are to open 2 new business's over the course of the next year, in a similar industry to the one i'm in. Basically i'm trying to monopolise the industry i'm in, so we get all the work, and all the money!

Without plans, man is a failure.

My rating was MA1. Everyone who knows what that means wonders why I don't want to continue that career as a civie. I would rather teach children. Were/Are you in?

-Officer recruiter

The officer recruiter will help you become a pilot. The enlisted recruiter will help you become a mechanic.

Amen to that. I signed my contract at MEPS to be a CT. I scored a 1530 on SAT's ( not that it's relevant ) and 99 on the ASVAB. And thanks to my snake in the grass recruiter during week 6 of boot camp I found out I was going to be doing a job that was a little less technical..... MA. Upside > at the time I joined, MA rate was WAY less locked up than any CT rate. Down side> it was less locked up because a lot of MAs were dying due to IEDs.

But I dealt with it. And it was a shit load of fun.

In all honesty, that is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard of. Since your info says you are in Missouri I'm going to assume that you are talking about U.S. Military.

NCO can be referred to as E-4 through E-9. But really I have never heard of a Corporal or a 3rd class petty officer call them selves NCO among anyone other than friends. You don't get the responsibility of an NCO until E-6. And I actually no several officers who rank O-5 and below who would never second guess an E-7 OR E-6.

No, not really. Would you rather be the commander or the commanded?

For the sake of who ever you would be commanding, I pray that you have been commanded in the first place. Most of the guys coming out of Annapolis were pricks. Not all, but most. Now the officers who went in enlisted and then after a year or two signed up to do the "Seaman to Admiral" program, those were the true officers. Not some whiny ass brat straight out of college.

Obviously. I meant between NCOs/enlisted and COS with approximately the same level of experience. Obviously an E-7 is going to be respected more than an O-1, but how about O-1 vs. E-1, or O-4 vs. E-4?

MUDAMUDAMUDA!!!
I'm currently only sixteen I dropped out of school a year ago and I do regret that, I'm now looking in doing I.T. (computing) for the future, I don't have any grades/qualifications at all as I dropped out, but I'm going to stay strong and try and make something of myself basically for my families sake, as they say, we are our parents products. I hope you guys succeed your dreams they're challenging and it would be great to see some fellow NGU'ers make it big Smile I myself don't have the confidence to actually try and aim high, so I'm going to stick to doing I.T. programming etc. But who knows I could end up making some celebrities website... CHA CHING!

Edit: another dream of mine is to have sexy time with a sexy chick and complete a cum shot with an ending line "G O M L" .. would just be epic in my eyes.

An E-1 is not an NCO and in most branches neither is an E-4.

Yes, I hastily drew numbers. The point is that generals, colonels, etc are generally more recognized than their NCO "equivalents". I'm not going to argue about it, it's just an observation I have made.

History and pay grade. When I study history, it's the COs that lead their nations to victory. NCOs may be mentioned in primary sources, but textbooks referencethe COS more often because they have much broader authority. For an example, Eisenhower commanded all the Allied forces in Europe. That's much more authority than any NCO held. Also, COs are payed more. They just seem to be more recognized outside of the military.
