Rep is the downfall of NGU, people are afraid to voice their opinions because of the worry of their rep being deducted by users.

I for one think it should be removed, what do you think?

We could just remove rep, but will it change anything? In my opinion, no, but it will probably be easier to manage with just thank and groans.

I think the Admins and Mods will make a good decision on what to do. Whatever they do choose, I'm sure there's a good reason behind it.

Re-read my post and come back. Us "vets'" opinions are split down the middle, but I only mentioned how newbies will vote.

Some members have been on here 2+ years and worked hard into making the site what it is today, and now everyone who's joining thinks they can change it it's bull.

Rep doesn't hurt anyone and if your "scared" of it, maybe it's time you climb out of your bubble and man the **** up. It will cause A LOT more problems if your remove it.

Why do you care? You haven't been here 2+ years...I have and I can tell you rep is as useful as no rep. It doesn't show the quality of your posts in the slightest bit. And if it really is about older members standing out you can easily see when I registered under my name.

I know i haven't, i was saying it pisses me off that people who joined new (Like me) are making all these threads stating what should happen to the site when imo they have no say on what should go on. I have only been here 3 months and i don't feel i should be making a thread saying the site should change the way it's been run because i don't like it and because some 40 year old virgin living in his mums basement is "scared" of -rep.

It's not effecting anyone as it is, so why does it need change? the mods should be more worried about things like scamming which is a major problem on this site, not rep.

It actually is effecting the quality of the posts on this site. Take the debate section as an example, in most cases people don't care what is being said, but it's all about who is saying it. The reputation gives a false sense of an actual reputation. Reputation isn't something that can be measured in numbers, it's something that you must earn in a community.


Most reputation is being earned by posting funny pictures with captions, so my suggestion is to only set it so that the OP of the thread can be Thanked/Groaned. And Groan shouldn't fully counter a thank, because if one makes a good post it shouldn't be negated by what someone else finds to be a "bad" post.
