Basics:
This is a huge deal, on November 2nd, 2010, Voters will vote on the Legalization of Marijuana in California or Prop 19. If passed it will allow people 21 years old or older to possess, cultivate, or transport marijuana for personal use. There are a number of positive outcomes if passed, such as aiding the struggling economy.Such as permitting local governments to regulate and tax commercial production and sale of marijuana to people 21 years old or older. Savings of up to several tens of millions of dollars annually to state and local governments on the costs of incarcerating and supervising certain marijuana offenders.

On Nov. 2, Californians will vote on Proposition 19, deciding whether to legalize the production, sale and consumption of marijuana. If the initiative passes, it won't just be momentous for California; it may, at long last, offer Mexico the promise of an exit from our costly war on drugs.

Passage of Prop 19 would therefore flip the terms of the debate about drug policy: If California legalizes marijuana, will it be viable for our country to continue hunting down drug lords in Tijuana? Will Wild West-style shootouts to stop Mexican cannabis from crossing the border make any sense when, just over that border, the local 7-Eleven sells pot?

Benefits:
-Anybody over 21 could posses 1 ounce of marijuana for personal consumption.
-May grow marijuana at a private residence in a space of up to 25 square feet for personal use.
-Smoke without worrying about the boys in blue Winky Winky

Government Regulations:
- Local government may authorize the retail sale of up to 1 ounce of marijuana per transaction, and regulate the hours and location of the business.
-Local government may authorize larger amounts of marijuana for personal possession and cultivation, or for commercial cultivation, transportation, and sale.
-Allows for the transportation of marijuana from a licensed premises in one city or county to a licensed premises in another city or county, without regard to local laws of intermediate localities to the contrary.

Outcome:
-Create between 60,000 and 110,000 new jobs in California
-Generate between $1.2 billion and $1.4 billion in new direct tax revenue annually.
-Expand California's economy by between $16 billion and $23 billion annually
-Reduce state expenditures by over $200 million in law enforcement costs for arrests, prosecutions and imprisonment of cannabis users.

If passed, i think California would prosper, tourism would increase, the economy would improve, and us stoners will finally be able to smoke without a hassle. So all you voters in California, YES ON PROP 19!!! =D

yeah.

whatever

Weed = :y:

but

Car Crashes = :n:

Weed is much like Alcohol.
it causes us to go "loop" to put it stupidly.

People will get high and drive, and what happens?

More than likely a car crash, So while yes, the legalization of marijuana would be "cool" but also, deadly.

Therefore, vote no.

go ahead

flame, but if it passes, and your the one in the car crash, how would you feel?

better yet, what about your mom, dad or uncle, driving the car, high, and your baby cousin, or your little baby brother dies.

think about that, before you vote yes on Prop 19.

As for Amsterdam, weed is not legal there, it is illegal, its just not as heavily enforced there, and it is not as frowned upon, but Weed is illegal there, just like Working-Under-The-Counter without a permit, its illegal, but no really frowned upon.

haha you make me laugh man, i love how you assume that driving high is deadly, prove me wrong with facts and find me a fatal stoner accident, it is nothing like alcohol, alcohol impairs your vision and judgement, where as marijuana increases your focus and improves judgement, i drive high everyday of my life, and im more relaxed and i pay attention more and just cruise, whereas drunk drivers usually tend to be speedy and reckless, so please, before you assume and jump to illogical conclusions, know the facts, research what you say, im speaking from first hand personal experience, nothing is more credible than that. You are simply wrong about driving high, it's not deadly, you are clearly ignorant. Yea it's not frowned upon in California or generally worldwide, just mass media and propaganda getting to you. Weed is basically legal in Amsterdam, just decriminalized, if this prop passes, of course weed is going to be decriminalized and legal, similar to but not exactly like Amsterdam.

Incase you didnt know, Narcotics have different reactions to everybody, other will need more to get a simple high, while others can smoke a dimebag and have their brains leaking out of their ears.

In all honesty, I have no problem with you, or with marijuana, I believe everybody should smoke atleast once to see what the whole deal is about, I have too, but to what extent, and what procedures should be placed, before we pass this law, should be implemented first.

and

@THE_JoKeR:

what was the point of "groaning" at my post, if it had no effect at all?

you groaned at my post, because I speak my mind?

People shouldn't be looked down upon because they choose Cannabis instead of alcohol. Infact it's the smarter choice. There's also use and abuse, with everything. You should never drive under the influence of any drug
