Basically, it's a way of asking for rep. It's obvious that when somebody says it, they are implying that others rep them. Soon after the said phrase is shouted, people follow through by saying, "link me." Anyways, I decided to screen snap some of these and made a little collection.

Those snaps accumulate less than 1% of the overall times it has been asked. That's not a real statistic, but I wouldn't doubt it. I'm sure you guys see this all the time in the shoutbox as well. I say we make a thread with a HUGE collection of these, so whenever you see a lonely soul saying how close they are to a star, snap it and post it here!

I rather see "Im so close to my star =D" Then all of this Weed bullshit that alot of people on this forum are talking about.

To me, the issue is more about what happens in the SB and the problems it generates for site administrations efforts to control the place.
There is absolutley no denying that more rep is traded in the shoutbox than in any single section, including PS3 hack/glitch.

Admins have become concerend enough about abuse in there that they tried a laughable atempt to censor the word rep *** in an effort to stop it in the SB.

Most new members quickly recognize that the ShoutBox is where you become popular around here and Popularity generates half of the rep given out on this site.

You can NOT do away with reputation, there are too many postitive benifits to having it.
Site management apparently can not control the situation, unless they want to start passing out more bans in SB to their friends.
The mob is running the place in there now and any efforts made by the mods lately have been shouted down.

The only solution is for the Popular Members to try and stop it themselves.
Stop asking for it themselves, Stop giving it on request, Stop condoning it when seen.
It is a good old boys club in there and they need to realize that if it doesn't stop, there may be a solution that no one likes!!!

One might be to close the ShoutBox and make it a forum only again.

Just saying you might end up with no Rep at all or no SB at all.

I don't think anyone wants that...

It's a little hypocritical when you make a thread on the topic and the people posting here have probably done this before.. or something along those lines.

To be honest its WAY more annoying to see "Please +rep me if my post was usefull" or "+rep me cus my cute dog sig" or shitt like that.

That is something that the admins and Mods have totally ignored.
35 to 50% of signatures have some form of rep request in them.
The site rules are not totally clear on signatures but do say you can not ask for rep.
Putting" If this helped" is not asking??
