(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey NGU,

Just thought I'd show everyone the new rack I bought to put all my home computers/servers on. I finished setting it up Saturday night. Right now it seems like there's a lot of empty space, but I bought a large rack so that I'll have room for more computers and servers in the future.

You must login or register to view this content.

Here's a list of everything in the picture:
Bottom shelf, left: Opti-Ups interruptible power supply
Bottom shelf, right: IBM xSeries rack-mount server running CentOS 5 and Xen
Second shelf, left: Dell Dimension 4300 running Slackware 12
Second shelf, middle: Dell PowerEdge 400SC server running IPCop
Second shelf, right: Gaming computer that I built myself running Windows XP Pro
Third shelf, left: Linksys wireless router and standard router, both with 4 ethernet ports plus a WAN port
Third shelf, middle: D-Link gigabit router with 5 ports
Third shelf, right: Time Warner Cable cable modem (15Mbps down, 2Mbps up)
Fourth shelf: Printer, scanner, then my old HP laptop running Ubuntu 8.04

You can also see my Thinkpad T60 laptop on the right. It has Windows XP Pro on the hard drive but is currently running Kubuntu 8.04 from a 16GB compact flash card.

Comments/suggestions welcome!

Depends what you mean by "all." If you're only talking about the rack, I bought that for $60 + tax. If you're talking about the computers and equipment, many thousand dollars, lol.

Btw, I'm going to take a better quality picture in a few minutes with a different camera. That first picture is a 12.64 megapixel composite (the one I posted is a very shrunk down version), but it is grainy if you zoom in. So I'm going to take pictures again with a newer digital camera (7.2 megapixels instead of 4) and hopefully it will have higher quality when zoomed in on. Smile

If it turns out good enough, I might post the full resolution version (which will be between 4 and 12MB as a jpeg, maybe more).

I agree. Rarely have any outages and I always get the full speeds. Haven't noticed any throttling either.

Holy crap!
That must've cost quite the small fortune.

Spread it over 7 or so years and it's not too bad, lol. That rack-mount server is my newest addition, but the rest I've had for a while. Hopefully more rack-mount servers to come if I can find some cheap ones.
