I have been noticing more and more attempts from the staff of ngu to monetize from the website more, not for personal gain but for the site, most of which are very annoying.
We're only about a week and a half from the end of the month here and we're only at about 40% of the donation goal. Now these admins just seem to continually be raping us with these annoying ways to keep the site going. First we had that annoying stream up that no one really cared about (which was blocked by adblock thankfully) and then we have this new video up, and I understand this new video is less about money and more about promotion but i'll get to that later. I also notice that there's adf.ly links in the downloads section, I don't have a problem with that but if you're going to do it, at least uncensor the site name so it's not something that is not allowed but staff can still do. If you guys need donations just ask, i'm sure some members will donate for the site to stay up.

Now to the videos. We don't need to see a little introduction video especially one recorded with a calculator. Try to keep this quality>quantity thing going with the new NGS youtube please, i've already noticed the quality dropping on the nguplayer youtube. You don't see the top youtube guys posting these little videos getting 70 views, you see them posting videos that people are actually interested in and getting millions of views.

I do agree, it does seem like NGU has become a little "money hungry" lately but why try to hide it? Like River said, if the site needs more donations then just simply ask for more, there are more than enough members on here that would be willing to donate to help out and that includes me.
Also, about the media team. One reason I haven't been uploading as much lately is because I feel like the same old commentaries over COD and what not are just so overused on YouTube today. It would be nice if the community pitched in some and told us what they would like to see so that we can actually make videos that entertain the community. We don't know what you guys like and what you don't so we need YOU to speak up. :y:
Also, about the media team. One reason I haven't been uploading as much lately is because I feel like the same old commentaries over COD and what not are just so overused on YouTube today. It would be nice if the community pitched in some and told us what they would like to see so that we can actually make videos that entertain the community. What about the livestream? That was a bunch of bullshit too.
What about taking away debates? That's even more bullshit. "Streamlined"???? What about the Computer Section with 10 bloody sub sections right below it!!! Why not do something about that?? Debates is the 2nd most used general section. BUT NOW, you add some stupid answers section?
Tl;dr bring debates back. It's ironic how the one section without bullshit was removed because of bullshit.

Not only videos that entertain the community but also ones that bring in new members for the community to grow.

When Apple releases a new product do you call them money hungry? We provide free forums for all to use. These things cost money, which is why we provide the option to help out the site by donating. By donating we give you some benefits. As for Outsiders video on the homepage, it was an introduction, not an ad. Many of us joined because of his videos, and it's great news that they may be starting up again. NextGenSource, another free service.

Actually yes. You didn't read completely. I stated if donations were needed then a simple heads up would be nice. I also know it was an introduction as I stated in the thread, it just would of been better if more effort was put into it. You also shouldn't expect a lot of attention from a simple introduction video as not many people watch them, nor are interested. You're really not taking this in the right way, i'm trying to help instead of bashing the community. It's far from ungrateful if it was ungrateful I wouldn't be giving suggestions but instead i'd be trolling and telling members not to come online and to cease donations.

We never said we didn't like NGU, and a couple members speaking out on a few things that we don't like about NGU is being ungrateful? I would say that's more of constructive criticism. Sorry, I just fail to see your logic in that one. :\

I agree that is bullshit I was never even really interested in them I was thinking about starting posting in there because more in depth conversations went on in there than anywhere else. Anyway it's dumb I mean come the fuck on we have a damn "Your Computer Forum" that has had 2 threads in the past 4 months and we don't have a debate section? Seriously?

Jeez, the whole thing about these streams and crap that we have almost no control over, just BS. Honestly, I agree, if they are in trouble for money, at the very least put up as a main site announcement, "Need Donations - Low On Cash" or something like that.
Honestly, I don't get why Adfly is blocked, I think it should be allowed to be used, it's about 0.001-0.005 cents, I have things I have uploaded and hell, with 500+ people downloading just one thing, I could have then taken that cash and used partly for myself and then depending on how much I made, toss the rest to NGU.
I understand Shitcash though, those are almost impossible to download, but adfly, 5 second wait but not allowed, the hell...
