I have been noticing more and more attempts from the staff of ngu to monetize from the website more, not for personal gain but for the site, most of which are very annoying.
We're only about a week and a half from the end of the month here and we're only at about 40% of the donation goal. Now these admins just seem to continually be raping us with these annoying ways to keep the site going. First we had that annoying stream up that no one really cared about (which was blocked by adblock thankfully) and then we have this new video up, and I understand this new video is less about money and more about promotion but i'll get to that later. I also notice that there's adf.ly links in the downloads section, I don't have a problem with that but if you're going to do it, at least uncensor the site name so it's not something that is not allowed but staff can still do. If you guys need donations just ask, i'm sure some members will donate for the site to stay up.

Now to the videos. We don't need to see a little introduction video especially one recorded with a calculator. Try to keep this quality>quantity thing going with the new NGS youtube please, i've already noticed the quality dropping on the nguplayer youtube. You don't see the top youtube guys posting these little videos getting 70 views, you see them posting videos that people are actually interested in and getting millions of views.

I agree as well. I think everyone who doesn't have their head up Outie's butt can see the dropping quality of the site. When I say dropping quality, I mean less and less of the original active members come here, and to be completely honest with you, the new wave of people to be active around here is primarily a bunch of annoying children. And I think this has an impact on the sites earnings. We're starting to appeal to 12 year olds who can't turn their saved up lunch money into online money to donate.
As for the youtube videos on the homepage, I think it's great that Outsider is trying to get back into the scene again, but I already watched the video. I don't need to watch it 20 times a day when I reload the page. Implement a better system if you want to advertise so badly. Besides, how many times has Outsider claimed to make a return? I can't say I see this whole youtube thing going very far. I can see the rest of the site trying incredibly hard to fill that 'void' with crappy videos just to keep it going, but it will most likely die out before we know it.
I understand that I express a lot of negativity towards the site here, but that's because I was around when it was at one of its peak time periods. I see old members disappearing, or they just spend their time strutting the fact that their "OG" and acting like fools. The new members typically spend their days in the shoutbox repeatedly posting the new meme smileys like a toddler who just got a new hot-wheels car.
I really can't say I have any problems with the current staff, BUT they need to be consistent. I see all these ex-mods becoming mod again, and then stepping down weeks later. That seems to be a reoccurring thing here, and I think the staff of a forum should stay consistent and not promote/demote people left and right, because quite frankly you're doing it wrong.
I'm sure I got a bit sidetracked with my post but it seemed as though everyone else was using this as an opportunity to speak their minds, and that's what we need, so I did it. Great thread River J, the air needs to be cleared and things need to be taken into perspective by the staff before changes are made.

This^ This it totally correct, The NGS wont go far with out outie and his glitches. I was one of the hardcore people that watched every video over and over again. When outie left the scene it became shit. He is coming back.. I dont know why..

You also come off as if you are the all mighty super mod of NGU, You really need to calm down. You should have posted something more orthodox then what you posted in this thread, Acting like you're some drug lord. (It sounds as if you sell Crack and you know addicts will come back and buy from you). If you didn't understand anything I just said, Or you just ignored this all together then I think you need to resign from Super Mod. I see no improvements from you on this little fiasco of money and I see no progress being made in the future.

I have to agree with River.. back when I was Media I put a lot of work into my videos since I wouldn't upload rank videos. And at the time MW3 was somewhat of the game to do commentaries over. But when you look at the grand scheme of things that's all you see on youtube nowadays. You rarely see any other games in all honesty. I hoping and I wish that NGS and every new member of Media team become diverse. For example Hondarydr's commentaries were entertaining and interesting and I enjoyed watching them. If NGS is going to be nothing but CoD videos and dull videos I'm not really interested, don't get me wrong or anything because I loved Capper's video the guy is remarkable to say the least.
But I wouldn't mind seeing other games like Dead Island, Skyrim, Fallout, BF3, Heavy Rain and other games to increase diversity. That's just my opinion, instead of sticking with the status quo which is made popular by people like Hutch, Adam and Jordan. Why not take the lead and make other videos popular, attempt to make a change to the current youtube. That's all I want and all I ask for.

Although I agree that it was a mistake to autoplay the videos, in an effort to get more hits on them, There was absolutely no connection between that decision and a revenue concern.
We have made our donation goals the last 3 months and only are off this month because of the Domain issue and being down for a week.
Staff has been trying very hard to introduce things that will help the site overall and bring in new membership, now that the Hack influx is over.
For you to imply that it is a money grabbing motive is insulting.
If you want to make constructive complaints about the video quality, or the autoplay idea, go ahead.
But it is in no way connected to revenue generation and its concerning that so many think so.
And it appears to me that you are masking some complaints here under the title of "serious discussion"

I did not say that the video autoplaying was a money grabbing motive. I apologize if you took it as such. Notice in the op "and then we have this new video up, and I understand this new video is less about money and more about promotion but i'll get to that later."
