I was just thinking: How do people see NGU in 2012?

With some new changes, like:

  • NextGenSource

    • Partnerships on YouTube

  • Homepage (Coming soon, from what I know)
  • Tutorial Team/Staff
  • NGU as a whole focusing more on media, actual videogaming, but still has a wide variety of hacking/glitching.

I personally love it, I'm starting to notice how much the community has changed and how much better this place is getting. Don't get me wrong, I've loved NGU since I signed up, but I haven't felt the same about the community since I've started. Until now, of course, having Outsider make a lot of changes for the better with the website, and seeing Admins interact (at least not as underground), and widening NGUs fanbase.

What do you think? Smile

No.

These features don't affect me.

The community is getting worse and worse. I remember being here where the discussions were grand, and every forum was populated. Now, well take a look for yourself...

Sure these things are nice, but honestly, look at the amount of views.

Frankly, I think most of the changes made could have been more well thought through, but hey I am allowed an opinion.

BUT: MEDIA wise it's headed in the right direction. It's a good idea in most cases, but with an inactive community, it's not really going to be easy.

Haven't we been expecting a new Home Page since vBulletin 3  Anyway, I like the idea of a tutorial team and I like that it's getting back to the gaming =D

I think it's headed in the right direction. My reasoning behind this statement:

NextGenSource: I know there's so many members here (including myself) who make great gaming videos that don't get the recognition they'd like, because of bad promotion. NGS offers a way to help these people get going with youtube.

Homepage: Great idea plain and simple.

Tutorial team: Amazing idea. Many people (including myself once again) came here in the first place for tutorials. That's what this site is about. With dedicated people supplying us with what we want to learn, what could go wrong?

NGU focusing on media: It seems as though this is where the money's at these days.

I think these changes can be just the pick-me-up that the community needs. People have been in a type of 'funk' lately, with all the complaining about the site and the community, but that can be changed with the right people behind it.

I cannot agree with this more! That is one of the things many people on the internet come looking for, and now they can get it all from one site, NextGenUpdate. Awesome idea

Tranquility.
Well from when I first registered the site has really gotten bigger and the admins are really improving the site from what it used to be. I like the way the site is headed really and I think we need to get more media based like the way were are headed with NextGenSource. Before we only had a YouTube channel and it isn't very big but now with NextGenSource, I feel like we can draw in more interested members into the site.

I think the NGS channel will help promote NGU and as long as there's great videos on it, it'll be good.

I think video gaming is dying as a whole.
Yea, there are some hardcore gamers out there but right now, the market is pretty empty.
Over in one corner, you have The cod franchise, dying because they keep putting out the same bullshit they have been feeding children since W@W, and over in the other corner, you have the moneywhore EA company who doesn't give a shit about their members entertainment. I see EA trying to dip into the Cod market right now and it will end in a disaster if they continue on the path they're headed.
I'm sure there will be brighter days ahead for video gaming but as of now, I see a large mass of people stepping away from this industry.

Honestly, I wouldn't surprised getting banned for this or flamed from staff.

I hate where NGU is headed. It's completely corrupt.

Problems:

  • Corrupt staff, they're always looking down on members.
  • Tryhards, too many 12 year olds trying to get a colored name and it's annoying for the non tryhards.
  • NGU's Ads/videos, self explanatory
  • NGS, I can already see it failing, trying too hard to post videos.
  • The amount of inactive users is crazy, I wish inactive users were pruned because it's taking up plenty of good names for active users to use, not like a person who registered and only visited the day they were on will ever come back, keep thinking they are, it's denial. The only reason ngu doesn't prune them is because that number at the bottom gets them off. NGU isn't even attempting to keep them active by doing anything different
  • The ego of staff is crazy, this goes back to the one up above but they act like genius's, guys you're mods on a website not computer specialists
  • inactive staff not demoted because of friendship with owner
  • staff groups, there's no need for sectional, there's been plenty of debate over this and I think it should be gone
  • staff immaturity, when you're running a site with almost 1 million members you need to be a bit more mature. I hate seeing admins tell members to go somewhere else, it really shows how much you don't care for the members. It's also annoying seeing staff act 12, if you want mature people to stay the people who run the site need to be somewhat mature.
  • Computer lounge sections, there's only like 500 of them that aren't even used that much
  • staff favoritism, some members are treated a lot different than others, goes back to #1
  • the shoutbox, we all love it but it takes away from the activity in sections A LOT

I could really keep this list going all day but I really do not want to.

Basically, ngu you have a lot to fix before you can compete with other huge sites

Also, ngu was made around glitching and there's 0 of that now in games
