Post: God vs Science
02-05-2013, 10:02 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The thread that was the shining light of the last two debating sections(ugh, really?) that was God vs Fact has been trashed or something(ugh, again) so this thread is here to take the place of that one.

Some extremely basic terminology...

Theist: believes in a god(s).
Deist: believes in a god(s) that created the universe but subsequently abandoned it and/or believes that reason and observation of the natural world are sufficient to determine the existence of god(s).
Atheist: does not believe in a god(s).
Agnostic: does not claim to know if a god exists or believes that such knowledge cannot be known, depending on the definition. Typically when I personally use this label I'm referring to the former.
Gnostic: claims to know one way or the other if a god exists.

There are some more but that's the basics down. I'm an agnostic atheist. What are you and why?

Edit: Thanks to whichever mod/admin butchered the thread's title and poll. The poll now makes no sense whatsoever.

That's actually untrue. Atheism solely expresses disbelief in a deity. You can have an atheist who believes in all sorts of irrational nonsense, but at the end of the day if they don't believe in any gods they're still an atheist.

I would however argue that a sceptic shouldn't believe in an afterlife, 'spirituality' or any other such rubbish.

I am a Theist. I go to a Catholic School but I am Buddhist. I have many different types of beliefs when it comes to different facts in life like who is the God of Nature, which I think Buddha is because of many reasons that I can't name them all. On the Catholic/Christian side, I think that God created the world as if God was inside a egg. One day, God would break open the egg to see what was on the outside world. God used his/her body up to make up the universe. At some point, God couldn't change or add different changes to the universe because he became a spirit.

There are many different terminology I believe in. But it depends what topic we are talking about.

Do those beliefs not conflict? Beliefs do not constitute reality. Have you any evidence for these beliefs?

Dont you ever wonder why science cannot create something like water? Science claims to be almighty yet they cannot create something we use everyday. Now they can add to it by pollution etc etc and observe it but they cannot create it. That is how unique God is Smile

Why the hell do we need to make water? It is all around us.
