Post: God vs Science
02-05-2013, 10:02 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The thread that was the shining light of the last two debating sections(ugh, really?) that was God vs Fact has been trashed or something(ugh, again) so this thread is here to take the place of that one.

Some extremely basic terminology...

Theist: believes in a god(s).
Deist: believes in a god(s) that created the universe but subsequently abandoned it and/or believes that reason and observation of the natural world are sufficient to determine the existence of god(s).
Atheist: does not believe in a god(s).
Agnostic: does not claim to know if a god exists or believes that such knowledge cannot be known, depending on the definition. Typically when I personally use this label I'm referring to the former.
Gnostic: claims to know one way or the other if a god exists.

There are some more but that's the basics down. I'm an agnostic atheist. What are you and why?

Edit: Thanks to whichever mod/admin butchered the thread's title and poll. The poll now makes no sense whatsoever.

I selected other because science currently doesn't support the theory that we're all just dreams within a dream within a virtual reality within a dream of an average duck.

Theres a religion that believes it all started with a tree thats roots were of godly desent and 8 orbs surrounded it, which a being gained access to and attempted to recover the land of lost. But what was created was the birth of yet another tangent existence. But i mean we all live our lives by our definition of whats right and wrong, whats light and whats corrupted, an all knowing God is convenient for people. Or the other way around... no God and us being to ourselfs is convenient for them. Its really a never ending quest for truth. Till you die.

It's not worth arguing about. Nobody truly knows if there is a god or not, so what's the point? The only time you'll know is when you die, or maybe you won't even know then.

You seem to Hold to a Position Called Hard Agnosticism, which is a belief That people can never know whether God Exists or not.

No I'm actually a Roman Catholic, but do I or anyone else actually know if God exists? Probably not. I just believe that he is real.

I'll be honest, I'm not exactly sure what Thomism is besides it being related to Thomas Aquinas
