I have tried playing the game from both the Drive and the Disc and I get the same problem. It might take 2 hours to shut off, or it might be when the first game starts. Ok, tell me how it works with the new disk. I don't have very many more ideas as there aren't many solutions online and I've never personally had this problem.

i deleted the old game files, copied the new game to the HDD.... same thing it crashed. How does DEX allocate its processing? is there a setting for it?

Has this always happened, did it just randomly start happening, did you change settings and it started happening? Does your disk drive work good with other games?

I bought this from another person who didn't play MW3. I have not changed any settings, only the fan speed. There is a potential that the BD might be bad because he told me to not use it.... after i bought it, though he told me it was because Cobra was enabled. I don't know enough about stuff like that to know the difference. BO2 is loaded on here, and the game configuration settings are set so that it says BD EMU by the game. I can post pictures of the differences in the way they are set in Irisman, which is what he was using to play BO2. I was told to use MM and being new to the whole thing I don't know what the settings should be. But to answer the question about it crashing, it has always crashed with MW3 no matter what where I loaded it from or what Disc, or HDD or program. BO2 will load for me but it wont connect to online services.

Cobra mode allows you to play backed up games as if they were on your disk drive. I'm wondering if your drive isn't reading your game correctly and is corrupting your game files. Maybe try downloading MW3 off the internet and backing it up to your HDD. Then tell me how it goes.

reading correctly yet corrupting? I don't know what that means. I'm not sure where to download a legit virus free game would be.

No, I'm saying it may not be reading the game correctly and skipping files and such in the transfer process. There can't be any viruses in a PS3 game. As long as you don't download any "Game Installer" or application like that which is an obvious virus, you're ok. I can't link you to a download on this website as it's against the TOS.
