A lot of rumors have been swirling that the Black Ops servers will be shut down. Well thanks to Nickjcal of TitanReviews and N4G, and JD2020 we now know that is false. Lets take a look at the email conversation.

Hello and thank you for contacting Activision Technical Support.

Fortunately, that was just a misunderstanding and a quote from one of our representatives was taken out of context and created a lot of confusion. We can assure you that the Call of Duty: Black Ops servers are not being shut down, and this is a false alarm. We are sorry for any inconvenience or unnecessary worries this may have caused, but as of now, there are absolutely no plans for the servers to be taken down.

I dug a little deeper into this and found a tweet from JD_2020 (Josh Olin, Community Manager of Black Ops). He to has confirmed that all this is a big misunderstanding.

Ha, if treyarch really were to shut down their PS3 servers, they would lose millions of players for the next call of duty made by treyarch because they would still probably be pissed off. No players? No money; And from what ive heard thats all Treyarch is about. So really, it would be the biggest and dumbest move made by a Call of Duty company.

I already knew that they weren't gonna shut down their servers. If they did, that would ass rape them in terms of losing a lot of money.

Very few companies that create games are in it for the money. What most people fail to realise is that a bigger company owns the game creators and everything they make. All gaming companies like this such as Treyarch or IW get a normal wage just like everyone else. Then if the game sells well they might get a bonus cheque but they deserve it. Long story short

Activision = money whores, Treyarch = normal working citizens.

i think we all knew this was false.
no company would shut down servers, thus losing their profit, especially on a title such as call of duty, where the games get a lot of traffic
