Following up from the rumors surrounding the new studio "Project Beachhead", there now seems to be a paid subscription fee coming.

A couple of days ago, Activision announced the establishment of this new studio but didn't go into too much detail. Well now Wedbush Securities video game industry analyst Michael Pachter, says that you will indeed be paying to play future Call of Duties.

"Project Beachhead absolutely is charging for multiplayer," Pachter said. "I'm certain to my core."

"Activision said they are working on 'value added, premium content that is exclusive,'" Pachter said. "How do you exclude people unless you do it on the basis of whether they pay or not? What are you going to have a bouncer in front of the club where you play the content? The only way it's exclusive is if it excludes non-paying members," Pachter added.

Then when asked how exactly we would be paying for this, Patcher replied:

"The exclusive content could be pay as you go, or monthly. Let's say Project Beachhead comes up with 'Call of Duty Universe,' and it launches with Modern Warfare 3 and they say 'if you join here's all the exclusive content and exclusive weapons and we'll charge you a dollar a piece.' Or If they say, 'for $5 a month you get unlimited weapons and all the map packs we bring out for Modern Warfare in perpetuity,' a lot of people will say, 'I'm going to buy three map packs for 15 dollars anyway, so for $60 a year, I'm getting all the unlimited weapons and achievements,' so they could do that. I don't know if that's what they're going to choose to do. I'd say $5 a month is reasonable, though."

Patcher will be watching for console stats. He will be focused on seeing if one "side" starts charging and the other remains free.

Are you guys willing to pay the subscription fee? I'm personally hoping Battlefield 3 will be good, because that's what's getting my money.

With quality like Black Ops is now, i would say bye bye. Games are meant to be fun, and its not fun if you keep in mind oh shit i better keep playing i paid for this month or anything else. I buy game, i expect it to be good and i'm having fun. Simple as that. Black Ops failed at 2nd and 3rd part and they want me to add another bit called subscription? No thank you.

Hell no! Activision needs to get their greedy little asses away from subscriptions. Look how much we made them so far off Black Ops and they want more? Just let us play the damn game for free and if not then we should only have to pay $10 for it!

This isn't confirmed yet. Patcher is an analyst, this is what he expects.

Precisely. It's only a rumour, I'm going to add that tag now.

Yea piss off, in Aus we pay $100 or so for a new game, then you want us to pay 5+ just to ****ing play it?
Then pay $15 for my map pack which comes out after the xbox fanboys.

So pretty much im paying $160 for 1 year worth of gameplay on that game, and I can play some offline every now and then, but since when is the single player been worth playing in a shooter when all they do is focus on multiplayer.... and multiplayer will probably be flawed heaps too anyway...

With that $160 I could buy lets say Battlefield 3 and Bulletstorm about a month after they come out and have a lot more fun then cod.

But im betting all of the cod fanboys will keep feeding Activision money because they believe cod is the best game out, just because its mass hyped and advertised everywhere....

I really doubt I will buy this game, and the only reason I would is if it somehow becomes the greattest shooter made, has no bullshit, good servers,no lag,no noob guns that any retard can get a 20 killstreak with,no overpowered killstreaks, good maps,no camping noobs, and A GOOD ****ING SPAWN SYSTEM
