Following the tragic massacre in Norway, Call of Duty has been pulled from two major retailers. Not only has Call of Duty been removed from shelves, but other violent first person shooters have also been pulled.

One of the stores, called Coop, made a statement saying:

Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: World at War Platinum, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Classic, Homefront, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Counter-Strike Source, and World of Warcraft have all been pulled from the store shelves at Coop.

Another store chain called Platekompaniet has also removed various shooters and other games from it's shelves.

Although the shooter from the incident, Anders Breivik, stated he had very little interest in first person shooters, he did state:

[Modern Warfare 2 was] "part of my training simulation…You can more or less completely simulate actual operations."

Breivik did spend a lot of time using video games, but he was more geared towards RPGs and fantasy titles. He was a self proclaimed World of Warcraft addict. It is believed he made the claims of addiction to cover up the time he spent meticulously planning his attack.

So what are your opinions? Do you think that these games should have been pulled due to the attack? Are his claims that he used violent, first person shooters to plan his attack justification enough to deprive consumers of a product that they have the right to purchase?

Easter Egg!
I feel sad for for norway gamers :/

All because of 1 f*Kin douche who killed 60+ people and said he used mw2 as a training base. wow.

I dont see why they are banning games, how about they improve their anti-terrorism?

this sucks for gamers.

I would understand this if brevik (the killer) actually got his motivations from these games that have been removed but the simple answer he didn't. Doing this shows great sympathy towards the families who lost loved ones but now gamers of Norway have to suffer. Personally I don't agree with it.

What does these games have to do with some psycho killing people? I mean he murdered them out of political reasons. And they banned World of Warcraft? WoW is basiclly you killing wolfes or picking flowers in the forrest. I think its wrong to ban these games because its like punishing the companies who made themnot preventing massacres.

they are banning shooting games, HAHAAAAA how bout u ban the guns n make em ilegal, only pussies use guns, oh n they should have something like mental test or somthing, i still dont see how he used mw2 as a simulater lol those guns have no recoil at all, and i think they needed somthing, to blame so they pointed fingers at video games, oh n how did he obtain a police jacket? they not blameing police for corruption? i think its all pathetic and they need to grow up, yea yea 60+ teenagers died, yet thousands kids die in iraq afghanistan because of war, and even now kids are starving to death in somalia and no one is showing any concern their?

The following user groaned 020king for this awful post:
