Following the tragic massacre in Norway, Call of Duty has been pulled from two major retailers. Not only has Call of Duty been removed from shelves, but other violent first person shooters have also been pulled.

One of the stores, called Coop, made a statement saying:

Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: World at War Platinum, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Classic, Homefront, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Counter-Strike Source, and World of Warcraft have all been pulled from the store shelves at Coop.

Another store chain called Platekompaniet has also removed various shooters and other games from it's shelves.

Although the shooter from the incident, Anders Breivik, stated he had very little interest in first person shooters, he did state:

[Modern Warfare 2 was] "part of my training simulation…You can more or less completely simulate actual operations."

Breivik did spend a lot of time using video games, but he was more geared towards RPGs and fantasy titles. He was a self proclaimed World of Warcraft addict. It is believed he made the claims of addiction to cover up the time he spent meticulously planning his attack.

So what are your opinions? Do you think that these games should have been pulled due to the attack? Are his claims that he used violent, first person shooters to plan his attack justification enough to deprive consumers of a product that they have the right to purchase?

And also, it's not really a theory, they even jokingly said on the Onion news network that "In other news, C.I.A insists, Al Qaeda IS a thing!"

The Onion is a viable news source now? Everything they say is "jokingly". I've come to the conclusion that you must be trolling. :p

It's a theory, since no one can prove it. I've seen you in the debate section, you should know this.

All because of 1 f*Kin douche who killed 60+ people and said he used mw2 as a training base. wow.

I dont see why they are banning games, how about they improve their anti-terrorism?

this sucks for gamers.

I don't know if anyone else already replied, because I cba to read all of the pages in the thread, but Norway haven't banned any video games. Only two stores (that aren't really big and are expansive as hell anyways) decided on their own to temporarily remove said titles from their store shelves to show respect to the ones hurt in the attack.

man, i understand this is a huge tragedy i feel bad for the people who lost a loved one and i feel bad for the family of the person who committed this horrendous crime, they will experience so much judgment and exile from their community. to take a game off the shelf because of it is like not allowing mike tyson on tv because of random ear biting or removing jose cansecos book because someone uses steroids. fps games dont teach anything other than you can sprint and stab throw grenades and see explosives through walls if you have the correct "perk." to me its just a "holier than thou" gesture. video games are nowhere near real life combat and to say "i used a video game as a trainer" is just silly. the fact that someone believed him is even sillier. it reminds me of my parents, they wouldn't let me listen to a band called "the goo goo dolls" just because their name sounded like "the voodoo dolls."

I understand the reasoning behind this. But really? How are you going to blame video games for the things that people do. I dont think that its right to just plaster a label on a FPS and everyone who plays them. Just because I love playing CoD doesnt mean I am about to go and slaughter as many people as I can. I hate how shitty people always gotta ruin it for the rest of us. Oh well, Good thing I am not in Norway.

Yes it is a theory.
I apologize I was tired :p

However I still insist I'm not trolling.
I don't believe al Qaeda exists.

I by my nature am a skeptic.

I however understand why you don't believe me.
It is a very convincing cover up.

Why are your men overseas called "heroes"?
They have done nothing to help your country.

I think this is getting off topic though. And I would be interested to hear your opinions via PM.

Thanks.
