Ever since the Xbox 360 introduced cross-game chat to its Xbox Live users, enabling them to party up with and chat with players in other games, PlayStation 3 fans have wondered when Sony would implement such a feature on the PSN. As it turns out, the reason we've been waiting so long for this feature, is because the PS3 simply cannot do it. There are memory restrictions in place that would make it impossible Shuhei Yoshida said.

A RAM usage feature of the console prevents a cross-game chat feature, Yoshida You must login or register to view this content..

Quote: "Once a game gets RAM we never give it back," he said. "It's not possible to retrofit something like that after the fact...The game has to use its own memory to do in-game voice chat. There's always voice chat in the game. But it's part of a game feature. It's not part of an OS feature. That's the reason in terms of the ability to have voice chat across different games."

So what do you have to say about this? Leave some feedback and your opinion's in a post below! Hopefully they will bring this feature into the Ps4 though.

Finally Xbox 360 users have something better than PS3 users. It really is about time something came along that edged out the competition.

Xbox 360 users always find something to brag about anyway, which usually is very annoying.

Just deal with it, if it was possible they would have done it. Dont try and outsmart sony because believe it or not, they're a lot smarter than you. The reason they cant do it is because to do this would involve changing the whole system because they'd have to change how the ps3 runs games and how the ps3 essentially works.

Oh and next time stop being such a typical fanboy. The second you get some bad news about the ps3 you come out with nonsense like "omg somethings wrong, how can this be? Its better than the xbox in everyway, how can the xbox have something the ps3 doesnt!?!?! (followed by head implosion).

Thank you and STFU.

They can just release a new version of the PS3, that is able to have Cross-Game Chat.
This would be a great idea for Sony, most PS3 users will most likely go out their way and buy a new PS3 just to be able to have Cross-Game Chat, giving Sony MUCH higher profits.

There would be a problem though, you can only talk to people who are able to use the Cross-Game Chat function.
But a great idea to this so they can gain even higher profits is by giving that new PS3 a little more RAM and Power, all they would have to do is give the PS3 something like 1.5gb RAM, 512mb of that being used for the Cross-Game Chat, this would be so it looks like PS3 users gain a better console. So Sony can boost their profits even higher, they can then make Cross-Game Chat only available to PSN+ users, earning then even higher profits, I would guarantee if they did that, their profits on selling consoles would almost treble and around 35 million out of the 70 million users will then probably pay for PSN+.

unbelievable.
but honestly i really dont mind it as i can still chat in B.O or other cods and i do have a cell phone and skype. PS3 has lots of advantages like free online connectivity and blu ray playback which is way better than cross game chat. I mean if you do the math xbox live costs more than skype would so u might as well use skype or something of the sort

Ok coming from the xbox fanboy. I have a ps3 and xbox 360. Also I was stating clear facts. The ram on the ps3 is much better than on the xbox. What I meant is that Sony is lazy and just won't try to even implement cross game chat.

cross game chat would be nice but who cares if it dont happen. Just do a text chat or something with the person while you play. Or play the game with them. All u guys r doing is arguing how xbox is better then ps3 and what not. Who give a flyin fadoodle. They both have advantages the other one doesn't
