Sony has just released the newest version of PlayStation Network (PSN). This new version is version 4.0 and its main goal is to support the PSVita, which will be released in Japan on December 17th, 2011. The update only brings two new features to the PlayStation 3.

Reporter's opinion:

This update is a bit disappointing specially since it's labeled PlayStation Network 4.0 and I was expecting some new exciting features that we would be able to brag about to our Xbox friends. It's also not that exciting since US and EU have to wait until February 2012 for the PSVita so this update is basically pointless to any PSN user outside of Japan. What do you guys think of the new update?

I agree w/ the Reporter's opinion 100%. This update is close to useless. :/ Time for a PSN revamp Sony.

Horrible sentence structure there. Aha, but nah I don't play the online a whole lot, I don't play it all to often anyways online or offline. December 31st I will have had it for 1 year, first few months I played it a lot but during summer I stopped (6 months after I got it, then since then I've played it less and less).

I'm not as much of a gamer anymore...

I don't play at all... They bore me, I recently decided to play Fallout 3 and I'm about 5 missions from beating everything with 4 levels to go till level 30, then I just have to play through and get good/neutral karma 7,14,20... then i have 100% complete.

Actually Ps3 wont get cross game chat because Money bags microsoft has a patent on it which prevents sony using it, unfortunatly, plus if microsofts Xboxs can handle it and the Ps3 is more powerful....why wouldn't pS3 handle it?

Patenting a method to talk... how does someone have a patent on something like that...

The patent is on the cross game chat not on the talking itself since you can't really patent that, the patent covers the idea of being able to chat whilst playing different games and the idea of private chatting whilst playing seperate games so Sony and anyone else cannot add the feature of cross game chatting only the ingame chat features, my guess is they've patented the software that does it as well as the concept.

You can pretty much patent anything you want so long as its new and you have the money.
