@bread82, damn you, had to throw my tune on trash can and start a new one..
Inspecting more your tune.. What makes it so fast..

Btw, would be nice to know what type of front suspension game really simulates, are there double-wishbone setup on some and rest just McPherson struts? King pin axis play on both so differently.. Feels like all are using McPhersons.. Gonna take test run on Senna's Formula..

@OdeFinn

Interesting about the brake balance... wonder if it's cos I'm on DS3 and the "pedal" feel is different. Just to check, everyone is using stock, not racing, right? I generally set my brakes quite strong since, with no ABS, I like to be able to lock at full pedal (button!) travel at a reasonably high speed (since otherwise I guess I'm not using the max decel force my tyres can handle... BUT this can obviously make the brakes oversensitive when braking at lower speed. Maybe I'm just weird lol!

I'm really chuffed that you got low 1'03s with my car - I'm sure that's more testament to your driving than my tune. My personal best is 1'03.9xx, and usually low 1'04s. Low 103s is amazing. I kept trying to take the last corner in 4th gear, getting to the point where I didn't brake for it, just lifted and threw her in. But it generally felt a bit better in high rev 3rd than medium rev 4th. I reckon if there was some way to enter faster and keep the revs a bit higher in 4th the car might pull through the corner really well, 4th felt like it was bogging a bit.

Agreed, it'd be great to know the suspension geometry for certain. At the moment I feel like the inbuilt caster is a bit of an enemy - perhaps running more forward rake will limit it.
I posted this on GTP a short while after reading the specDB posts on this NGU thread.

It contains a link to some pics I took of rake apparently affecting camber on max lock. Theoretically, if the caster is adding too much camber, we'd want to lower the caster by using rake to make the camber vary less. This way we could start with more camber and stay closer to the "best" camber value with less variation.... However, I'm sure that running max forward rake to significantly lower caster probably has bad side effects!

If I'm right, the caster should add too much neg camber on tight turns (max lock). With shallow turns we should gain less camber and be able to start with a higher value. I really need to test this on GT arena vs High Speed Ring or something - would be very subjective though.

@SiNiST3R, would you be able to PM me your miata settings please? Also I'm happy for you to post mine in your garage.

..... once we're done with miatas... anyone fancy "Spec 86"?!

Cheers,

Bread

Do a barrel roll!
Same here. I tested Breads approaching with some other cars. Something is making the car fast. When You will find it Ode, please let us all know ( is it dampers? ). The difference depends also of the track. In nurb24 the difference is very small ( 0,5 - 1 sec / cars 550 pp ) but it's huge in Tsukuba ( with 400pp ). It's also possible that the influence is bigger with low pp cars.

The window is very small where the car is good in Breads approach, there isn't much room around that sweet spot - Front spring rate 0,5 kg or 1 click front arb changes the nature of the car. I have a feeling that there is more room to move around that sweet spot, if You are using more camber front.

There is one element we haven't talked: In racing it's important that the car has fast response of steering and has ability to change direction fast. This ability is needed in racing when You try to overtake someone. If someone makes little mistake the car must turn fast for overtaking. The car must also stay in a different driving line, if You are planing to overtake someone in second corner ( combination right left or left right ) etc ( as you can see, I have done plenty of racing today ).

@Bread82, Summa summarum of those links and links under them:
"Suspension tuning is an art because there is no ideal."
"There really are a fuckload of variables to consider."

@jounijkk, game seems reduce quite lot top speed and acceleration due rear toe friction against road surface, camber is not so hugely affecting those even giving some same result on traction side.
Added weight on rear counted better traction/acceleration/top speed.

Actually not surprised when we are using highly soft(grip) tires. If tuning was made bit harder compound there might be more use rear toe.
Made "new" tune, and it clocks constant under 1:04 laps, then switched to bread tune and I was running exact pace with that.. Makes me wonder why/how it clocks first test .6 faster than second.. I'm pretty sure at I had traction real switched on arcade room.. Gonna test it later again. Or was there some glitch from game and it visually changed room setting, but didn't actually change it, seen this type of behavior from GT6 before.

Thanks much I will, and I will PM you my Miata set up Bread when I get home however, the guys can send it to you if they have it close by.

Oh yeah Spec 86 is IMO the best next step and would be a great project especially with the factory LSD

Busy busy busy I will try to catch up.

8-6 we got to bring up the PP some Im thinking about building the car to STX Class Spec as the 8-6 family is becoming a familiar face there and should do well for us stepping up the pp. This is Street Tire Class so we will run Sports Soft again.

INFORMATIVE THREAD I found to help us out

They allow aftermarket LSD but no gear tuning, do you guys think we should include LSD tuning, go with stock or go with a pre-tuned LSD set up? I would think IMO it would be okay to include LSD tuning especially since the transmissions will be fixed gears. What do yall think?

The GTAcademy cars are NOT tuned differently, they all have used default settings, The only user cars so far that have been different in the event vs how they are available in the dealership has been the Sierra events.
