(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hii

I have a console.. was working fine, managed to downgrade sucessfully and convert to dex without any issues..

Put it on rebug 4.75.3 drex.. turned it off for 30 mins, turned it back on now it YLOD and shuts off...

CANNOT BE THERMAL PASTE AS I HAVE ALREADY REAPPLIED PASTE

Stops shutting off when I take the HDD out..

So i bought a new HDD.. install firmware on it.. now it boots up again fine..

turn it off for half an hour or so.. turn it back on and it YLOD's and turns off again..

Why is the HDD's causing this? its like something is writing to them before they shut down :/

shall i try different firmware? could the HDD port be dodgey?

Willing to pay if someone can solve this.. baffled me.. been trying to find a fix for the last 48 hours..

changed psu also.. same problemm

Also just verify, if you only install downgrader, and shut it off. Does it do this, or only after installing cfw?

I put it on Dex downgrader last night.. Woke up this morning, turned it on. YLOD again

Might be a dumb question, but you are actually ON dex, right? Maybe the conversion went wrong? If someone got it all the way to point of converting to dex, I'd say the flash/backup would be fine..right? Always trace your steps back, plus this is kind of good news though because that means you may not have to go through the trouble to verifying your backup :\

I doubt dex converion, I have at least 10 other console's here without any issues.. but hey.. ill reflash the original backups back onto the console then ill convert to dex again

Am i correct to say if i reflash original backups I install cex downgrader right? even though its on dex now

Im thinking a cracked solder ball underneath the rsx or cell

or

The southbridge needs reballing/reflowing

If there were a cracked ball underneath the RSX chip, this would lead to YLOD since it's not making connection with both the RSX and the motherboard... you can learn more about how YLOD is caused You must login or register to view this content., go to step 3.

Nice tutorial man.

Im going to try the cheaper method and put some copper shims on the rsx and cell as that should put enough pressure for the cracked solder ball to get back into the position it was originally in.

If this doesnt work then ill find someone to reball it

fuck reflowing, not even worth it

Yeah that would be wise, many companies switched to non-leaded solder balls after it was made a law to have this in a working environment... leaded-solder is always the best to use for many reasons, too much really to explain :p. But nevertheless, good luck I do hope you manage to get it fixed Smile

A little trick I did recently with a YLOD was to slightly bend inwards the 2 plates that are screwed down above the GPU/CPU.

Just a measure of applying a little extra pressure to obviously help the connections out.

Hope you manage to sort your issue out though. Sounds frustrating!

I know exactly what you mean dude, I usually do that anyways as its always good to do that after you taken a console apart for the first time.

Ive already messaged someone on ebay, going to pay for a full reball i think, it'll also guarantee the console working for another 6-12 months minimum

Frustrating isnt even the word for it, the amount of times ive formatted these HDD's i got here, also reapplied paste and gone over the whole board with alcohol to make sure all the connections are right

Its Baffled me for the last 5+ days, reballing the cpu and gpu or the southbridge is the last ideas i have in mind
