(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Here I hav3 proof that the FW is NOT stored to the NAND.
It is stored to the hard disk.

In the img says "copying to hard disk" not NAND.

So all firmware updates are all stored to the hard drive not the nand only a little bit of that firmware update goes to that nand and thats the variable that matches the firmware on your hard drive.

Read what you just wrote again.

How do you think Geohotz got his custom fw to download and replace the original fw?

by tricking the NAND!

I am pretty sure it has been proven he just edited a roc file.

dev_flash is a MOUNT point. It is not on the HDD.

Why did the infectous work back before 2.00? What did it do? Thats right! It read the onboard nand chip as well as allowed you to flash back to it. Do you understand what flash memory is?

Those that resort to profanity immediately when challenged means only one thing. They are F O S. End of story.

At first i thought this thread was a total joke
But i guess its not.. The PS3 copys the firmware because it has
to be mounted somewhere to flash the nand right? Well in this case
it always gets copied to the PS3s hidden partition "HDD1" the files are
in /app_home/PS3UPDATE/ps3swu.self... If your still in denial just grab yourself
a ps3 on 3.41 start a firmware update then quit, then do a memory dump and go
to offset 0x2CD7B7.. So just admit that you have been prooven wrong. =D

This actually does make sense, but i think, and if this is wrong then flame the f*** outta me, is that NAND actually works as a key, checks if the firmware is legit, then installs it in the HHD, but keeps a dumb copy for its self, when u replace the HHD, NAND checks again for the right firmware, and then, if the firmware is not legit, it installs the dumb copy that is stored in it on to the HDD.
