It is stored to the hard disk.

In the img says "copying to hard disk" not NAND.

so what your saying is that the NAND stores a dummy file for it to check against the HDD?
I dont think so but its a good idea

It has to be copyed to HDD if it wasn't and you were downloading from online and say you get disconnected from the internet you would brick your PS3! So the update is fully stored on the HDD until it is installed at this point it is stored on nand and deleted from the hdd. When it is on the hdd it is stored as a .pup file which is like a zip file containing the OS inside of it...

u a noob it flashes the firmware u want instant flash to ps3 across internet no u want stable flash from a harddisk , no it dosnt store it on harddisk fact close this pointless thread only stores it for a temp file then installs to bios ,

ps3 is a pc in a shell the firmware is BIOS .. i guess u never changed your bios before i have lots of times your trying to say the firmware is on the harddisk and thats how it is installed u talk rubbish its on a cpu inside the ps3 only way to change the bios after 3.50 is going to be a mod chip . yes the installation files are on harddisk but not the operating files

There is no need to change the bios.

The bios is to change the boot orders and other things.

So really you shouldnt be in the bios.
