Post: PS3 downgrade might soon be possible!
11-02-2010, 01:27 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well I know how to dump the nand. AND all I have to do now is find the NAND in the ps3. I'll open up my ps3 and find it soon. If and when I find it, I can erase all contents on it by setting a large voltage of the opposite polarity. Bassically it pulls the electrons off the FG through quantum tunneling. Once we do this, we SHOULD be able to downgrade. And i'll have to have a new HDD, or reformat my current one, as %60 of the firmware is stored on the HDD. And if I have to, i'll install a new flash reader.. >.> ALSO: Don't ask me questions about what I just said if I confuse you.. It's REALLY hard to explain. If I manage to find something usefull, i'll post it.

Brute
This would work if it could.

Anyways even if theory says it would work; reality says it would successfully destroy your PS3

if you corrupt your nand your ps3 would not start because thats where i think the bootloader,Os, and most of the command to make the ps3 run is stored so if you corrupt it all files are going to be erased. So then your just going to have an blank flash memory space. If you did want 2 erased it then reformat it were would you get those files to reformat it? Dont say by dumping it. Weird WIKI said almost the same thing you did in your first post :O

As others said, once you corrupt the NAND, there is no going back, you cannot re-format it once it is corrupt.

You might as well throw your ps3 in a bowl of water. (JOKES) Happy

Good method through!

there's a cool trick, if you throw your PS3 in water... then let it completely dry out, odds are it will still work... AND still be on 3.50 firmware.

You can NOT format a NAND. It is not flash memory, it is not a hard drive. You flash the nand over with new data. The nand is executable code that controls everything. It is encrypted. If you get to a point to dump it, congrats, but you can't decrypt it. OH and corrupting the nand will brick it and do nothing. You DO realize that the nand will try to be decrypted by the rest of the system. You can't decrypt whats not encrypted. You would have to re-encrypt with the system/master encryption key using the proper encryption.

Your whole idea and suggestion is not even possible. There are windows tools to manage special memory types, but formatting does not apply here.

Please come back when you have some common sense and know WTF you are talking about.

Thank You.
