I need to explain this, in NO way sony will dis-able your PS3.

Why?Eek

The HARDWARE IS CLEARLY YOURS. It's illegal to dis-able your PS3 because it's considered Vandalism.

If they dis-abled your console then you have every right to sue Sony and remember there will be "few" millions joining you. And even if they won , they will spend ridiculous amount of money on this because if they lost, they are bankrupt.

However, Sony can still ban your console from accessing PlayStation Network and prevent you from downloading any future updates.

I suggest switching back to OFW and clearing your Data-base files because once you log in , a clear log is sent to Sony.

Be careful , Sony will make "MAD" Bans but most likely this will be for 3.60 CFW or something.Outie

Well basically if there going to ban using the first place.. They should of made there console as 'secure' as they said it was going to be. They just can't confess to losing.

I agree, but they could use an argument like this:

"We stated that using any firmware or modifying out firmware could and most likely would damage the system, and that we were not to be accountable for this. Our new OFW contained a security patch intended to solve recently found issues. This update was not intended to damage anyone's consoles (CFW or not) but apparently consoles with modified firmware could not accept this patch, hence got damaged. No user was obligated to download our firmware, we always give them the option to accept or decline the update. In short, we said installing any firmware that wasn't official could immediately, or after any given event(s), damage a console, and this time it was true."

It's just a thought, I've no knowledge of this.

If consoles get damaged before a new firmware comes out, that's another story.

The hardware may be yours but as the PS3 is a closed system the code used to operate the PS3 is owned and licensed to Sony. If you modify this code in any way it is illegal and as it states in the PS3 User Agreement that Sony are not responsible for things like loss of functionality they can within the law disable the use of your console.

Sony can do anything to your Ps3 if they know you have done wrong. Once you accept those terms of use, your basically handing your Ps3 over into Sony's hands.

Being in violation of the terms of use on the console I actually think they can perma-ban your console. And if you sued they'd be smart enough with their high priced lawyer teams and they'd also counter-sue for the waste of time and money in preparation for the lawsuit.

See what I mean? xD

The terms of use only apply to PSN.

And what about the PSP? Never seen sony bricking one of them on purpose and that died because of cfw.
