If you are confident enough that your theory is new then you must be willing to check every theory in this thread to make sure you are not just rehashing old info. Please post your theory in the title if at all possible. This will make it easier for people to sort through. Meaning use "Hack with RFOM" as the title instead of "new way to hack" as the title. Hopefully this helps everyone and makes life a lot easier for all involved. Thanks to DesmondS95 for getting my attention on this.

well some ideas are ie random posting of new threads, but i agree with you
step 1: go to gamestop and buy an old 20gb ps3
step 2: load up lynux to the old ps3
step 3: back up your PS3/access HDD with a SATA cable\

Decrypting the hard drive through the music folder was done by Durk... theres a video on NGU... will edit my post when i find the videos Happy

I'm not sure if any of you know, but someone else other than The Unkn0wn and Hunter have hacked MW2. His name is Boxxy. Im pretty sure he's not on NGU but he has his own site that he hosted a modded lobby for that forums members.
(Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to the thread?)

But this is what he said when someone asked him to lead him in the right direction:

"You need to have a sata cable, a old "fat" ps3 and you need to know how to decrypt your hard drive. "

Now I know everyone has said this method doesn't work, but this guy hosted a lobby...

And I'm not sure who this guy is. Maybe its just hunter on another site?
If any of you know who this guy is post here. (EDIT: He's definitely not hunter he's...Boxxy lol)

And thats a misleading title I should change that :p Not sure what to change it to though lol.

I would have to agree. When I was agony with the patch on 3.30 I could change data etc on the hdd. And re encrypt and wouldn't have a fault what so ever. Not saying that the lobby worked. But the hdd context could be adjusted. Now when I try on 3.40 if I change one byte from the hdd age I get firstly the error saying can't access trophy etc the freeze on multiplayer menu.

I came to the conclusion that 3.40 has implemented some kind ov checksum over the image

Yes it did. Im pretty sure you need a PS3 with FW as low as 3.15
