because when you actually make a patch and add a lot. You have to use more than one location.
And this was not ment to tell anyone how to do something.
It was ment to teach them (by example) how to edit a patch

If you did it exactly you wouldn't get a black screen.
You had to 'typo' or miss a step by mistake.

As far as converting, just make sure you get all "Functions" that is called for. In there.
That is what will cause the script error.
