not to start the age old fanboy debate, but i firmly stand by, xbox was created for children, and ps3 is for adults=more simplistic while still being versatile.
i'm completely fine with waiting to get a "new" xmb when the ps4 comes out. if anything i'd like a update for things such as the clock, more dynamic themes, and better old school games to download.
Allow me to elaborate on some things:
1. The main reason that I would want cross-game chat is because most of my friends play Call of Duty. While I like it, I sometimes get annoyed with it and play other games like Uncharted and Assassins Creed Brotherhood. So, it would be nice to be able to chat with my friends even though I'm playing a different game. For me, my friends normally don't invite their friends to chat or play so the muting thing would not apply to me but I understand what you are saying.
2. I don't want to completely switch to the Xbox because most of my friends are on PS3. Also, I absolutely love the graphics the PS3 has for it exclusives. I play both consoles and like them equally.
3. I just want to say that I am in no way implying that the XMB is completely unusable. My thoughts on it are that it is usable and simple but it is laggy at times. I'm saying that Sony could give it a facelift and make it optional for users whether they want the newer XMB or the classic one. It would be nice to see Sony add some new feature with a firmware update rather than taking things away or applying a security patch with no details.
Those are my thoughts and I completely respect and understand yours :y:
