(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok i recently found this way on YouTube and tried it and the reason i didn't record is because i thought it wouldn't work.... BUT IT DOES!

This wont damage anything, there can be a game and HDD in the system while you do this and it wont mess it up.

Things needed:
- 2-3 Towels or shirts
- Hair dryer
- Fan (optional but takes less time with it)

First off place the PS3 on the 1st towel/shirt like this:
You must login or register to view this content.
(ignore the white specs)

Next wrap both sides up then the back up like so:
You must login or register to view this content.

Then do the same thing with the second towel/shirt but flipped it over and wrap it:
You must login or register to view this content.

After that take your hair dryer and put it about 3-4inches from the back of the ps3:
You must login or register to view this content.
(yes thats a flash light.... i couldnt find the hair dryer its just for an example)
Leave the hair dryer running for 15 minutes (no less and not much more or you will melt your ps3)

Pull the ps3 out the towels (it WILL! be hot) then place it in front of a fan for 5-10min:
You must login or register to view this content.
(you will hear snapping... its because the plastic getting hot then cold quickly)

This is a video i found (he did a box but towels work better because it keeps the heat in better)

Once you are done with all those steps plug up your ps3 and it should work......

Did you forget that by melting every contact within the entire PS3 you are loosening and damaging more parts. Other then heat-damaging the circuit board and weakening both the plastic outer structure and the contact points this may work on the short term but is dumb and outrageous. If you knew the slightest thing about circuitry then you wouldn't have posted this useless tutorial. Do your research before waisting people's time. No ware in your post did you note the dangers and problems associated with this technique. If you don't have equipment then don't tamper and attempt home repairs.

Okay then hotshot. If every part is perfectly fine then please tell me how you managed to complete this tutorial and then completely disassemble your PS3 to check every single part in such a short amount of time. If you did actually do all of that then it gives you permission to say it's perfectly fine, but you didn't.

No, it also wont screw up your HDD if it is in the PS3 while you do it.

This wouldnt help. the ps3 woundnt turn after it has gotten a YLOD..:megusta: The hair dryer isnt that powerfull. Also you have to heat up the gpu and cpu... with a heat gun

Do a barrel roll!
Did it the other day without the towels and stuff it worked fine. 2nd time i got ylod on that ps3 (my 3.41) i would only have it on for 5 mins at a time max to do data transfers idk how the hell it got ylod again after only 3months (Did the arctic silver 5 + heatgun fix), but do take you HDD out, definatly not worth it to F it up if something happens. Only takes 1 min to do anyways

Whatever you do, please DO NOT resort to this as a fix. I tried various methods, and this one might melt those ribbon cables. Take time to open up the PS3, and only heat up the motherboard.

Yes, this work, but only TEMPORARY. My first YLOD I didnt have a heatgun, so I used a hairdryer, with the motherboard in sweater. The PS3 came back to life for 10 days on moderate use. This DOESNT remelt the solder. I used a 2000W hairdryer, and the temperature (yes, i measured it) didnt even reach 220 degrees Celcius. The reason this work is because it flex out the motherboard and straighten it. The contact points then touches nicely again. However, with time the heat will cause it to warp again.

My view is to only do this to get your data off your HDD, but it shouldnt be regarded as a fix.

Also, the melting point of the plastic casing of the PS3 is below 200 degrees celcius - if you put a towel on it and let it convex, your case might melt with the ribbons inside if you do it too long. For that reason take it apart and only heat up the motherboard.

If you really dont want to spend 9.99 USD on a heatgun, there is a way using your oven. But watch out for the capacitors. This method I can confirm working, gave me 2 months on my second YLOD. But I got a heatgun afterwards (and a second PS3 just in case ).

UPDATE: just wanted to add this little gem for people who will try this without opening the PS3. See what could happen to your casing :- [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvs5j0hfWfA[/ame]
