Sony stated recently via a blog update that a PlayStation 3 firmware update will be released upon the PlayStation Network’s revival, and now it seems that one PS3 user has already got the firmware update notification whilst PSN is down.

A user on GAF posted the following images showing he received the firmware update notification whilst the PSN is down today (click on image to enlarge): The PS3 owner, DailyVacation, was asked to verify his current PlayStation 3 firmware version and he replied:

Still at 3.60. If you select yes, you get the message stating you already have the latest firmware. So it seems they’re activating it for certain locations? I’m gonna put up screenshot in a bit.

Could Sony be starting to finally bring back the PlayStation Network?

FAKE. not hard to take a pic of ur ps3 xmb with todays date and already have a pic saying wanting to update to a firmware. coulda been from the last firmware. i wouldnt trust it. so fake

if u have noticed the game patches and i think mostly everything from the store is

It could be real... or Fake.... But I beleive it is real.... After All theres alot of stuff going on at sony right now with psn and stuff..

I hope this isn't fake, but at this point I've given up waiting for the PSN to come back. When it does, it does.

1st time since it went down in the last hour mine says dns error when i try sign in, and when i go to update it usually says no need to update right away, this time it took quite a while and then said dns error.

in the 3weeks ive never had dns untill like half hour ago
