I ALSO FOUND THIS WAS THE CASE WHEN I TOOK MY OWN PS3 APART ASWELL
so i found this by chance long story cut short my neighbour smashed his ps3 up and i took it off him to salvage the bluray drive from it(IT STILL WORKS)
then i noticed that when u take the ps3 apart that the hole were the security screw is that the screw doesnt actually come out the other end
also the security screw DOESNT screw into anything it SITS in the gap on the POWER PACK
once again sony cutting corners you viod your warranty when u dont have to touch the sticker
so therefore it is possible to open up the ps3 without peeling the sticker off and voiding your warranty
ive undone 2 ps3's without undoing the security screw
video shows how to slide the thin plastic top off (NOTE SECURITY SCREW IS UNTOUCHED)

yea probably but its more of letting people know that they dont have to peel the sticker off then void the warranty
if u remove the sticker 1 u cant send it sony and 2 u cant sell it on to an exchange shop if and when u want to get rid of your ps3

ive had a 3 fats and 1 slim but swapped a slim for a fat ps3 that was on 3.50 firmware so i could jailbreak it and i bought a preowned 60gb fat to play online with
