I ALSO FOUND THIS WAS THE CASE WHEN I TOOK MY OWN PS3 APART ASWELL
so i found this by chance long story cut short my neighbour smashed his ps3 up and i took it off him to salvage the bluray drive from it(IT STILL WORKS)
then i noticed that when u take the ps3 apart that the hole were the security screw is that the screw doesnt actually come out the other end
also the security screw DOESNT screw into anything it SITS in the gap on the POWER PACK
once again sony cutting corners you viod your warranty when u dont have to touch the sticker
so therefore it is possible to open up the ps3 without peeling the sticker off and voiding your warranty
ive undone 2 ps3's without undoing the security screw
video shows how to slide the thin plastic top off (NOTE SECURITY SCREW IS UNTOUCHED)

yea i wouldnt neither trying get my hands on 1
i no that the bluray and power pack are in the same place as a fat just the layout of the motherboard is different
also the the hard drive goes under the bluray rather than under the power pack from the side like in a fat ps3
it just depends were the screw goes into whcih is behind the sticker
the fat ps3's the screw doesnt go into anything just sits in the groove on the power pack
