So i installed it, it restarted, then turned off. I tried to turn it back on and bam: YLOD. Basically i got the ylod from the firmware not the overheating or what-not. Any ps3 experts wanna help? Its been sitting in my bonus room for 7 months now.

What model is this? If you tried waninkokos firmware on a 60 ot 80GB fat it will more than likely be the cause of the YLOD. Search waninkoko brick on this very forum and see how many fell victim to it.

Just to correct the perception of a YLOD - its an unknown hardware failure, not because of overheating. Overheating could CAUSE a YLOD on the GPU and CPU chips if they overheat and cool down rapidly, causing the solder to crack. But if your PS3 just overheats it just shuts down with a message.

EDIT: Just to answer your question - Yes, if this WK CFW cause the YLOD, you will need to flash - and this entails soldering a flasher on the board. There is a brick fix app which you then need to run via this unit to sort it out. Very cumbersome to use.

What is a Stugger?
YLOD is usually overheating, but from what I know it actually means any general hardware failure just to clear that up.

At least I can fight
CFW can mess a lot of things up. It might have overheated or it might not have.

If your ps3 does get the yellow light inbetween a green light and a repeatedly blinking red light, you my friend have the overheating issue. I have had this before and it actually is quite easy to fix. They have a detailed guide here:You must login or register to view this content.. It was very helpful, though it does not last forever. In the past nine or so months I have fixed my YLOD problem many times, and my old CECHA01 continues to work. If you need any extra help feel free to ask.
