Why would jailbreaking ever be legal? It gives other players a huge advantage over some games. I know if you were obviously killed by someone who had a aimbot or a wallhack it pisses you off. Now someone may release a jailbreak that doesn't allow to that sorta stuff but further customize your PS3, kinda like the iPhone jailbreak.

The JB itself doesn't allow you to do that kind of stuff. The patches you use allow you to. Some people just JB so they can go rent a ps3 game, download it to there ps3 and never have to actually buy it.

The jailbreak itself does allow you to install and run the patches though.

If you'd pay attention to Geohot's case against Sony, then you wouldn't be asking this question. I'm not being rude, I'm just being honest. The purpose of his case was, Sony wanted to prosecute Geohot. Basically sending a message to everyone that it is illegal to jailbreak their console. Sony, won't allow anyone to touch their baby. Why? Because Sony clearly knows that allow JB will enable piracy. Piracy = Free Games = Company loses money.

Jailbreaking is legal. The way you use the jailbreak is completely up to you.
