(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Right i can do it easily with friends routers. its really easy. Im not dumb when it comes to stuff like this.

However i own one of the shittist routers in the world.

BT home hub 1.5

I want To DMZ my playstation. The DMZ option however only allows me to DMZ a Device that wasnt assigned manually. So i must go on my PS3 and select Easy for the setup. Then it appears in the list to DMZ. When i DMZ it comes up with a message " do you want to assign a public Ip address to ....."

So i click yes. Go to my ps3 and try to connect to the internet and sign in psn. It comes up with a Error message about DNS . When i try to change the internet settings, it wont obtain a IP address.

I then also cant access my BT home hub from my laptop once ive DMZd. But im still connected to the internet on it.

i cant assign a DMZ to a Ip it has to be to a device that doesnt have a Static IP.

Whats the Public Ip address ?!?! is that the one thats like 89.68......
My mates router you can assign it to a local IP like 192.168.1.100
help meee

what is the IP address that you log into your router with? You should be able to change the wireless settings. It sounds like you know what you're talking about so I'm confused about that router. What's the model name & number again? Let me see if I can find anything

are you hard wired or wirelessly connecting?

I think you're internet provider just sucks man. they have a funky setup with their modem/router combo. Here is a few links to their support website that I found. I'll need some more information before I can continue to help. You might have already checked these out.

1) connect your PS3 to the inernet (notice they have NAT 3 which is the worse):

2) How to port forward your router

Good luck

i am wired.

ive tried port fowarding the ports i need. But when i do this again it just comes up with DMZ error.

You think the Ip i use to login to the router on my IE, is the public Ip it assigns... if so what would be the other settings...

Like the primary and 2ndary DNS

Oh and nice pic ... mmm

the type of broadband connection you have is a little strange. whats your ISP name?

If you've followed the directions on the first link I provided about forwarding the ports I think that's all you can come up with. So when you do this you're getting a DMZ error message or a DNS error message? If you're getting a DNS error message, are you find that to be on your PS3 or your computer?

Again, how do you log into your router? Do you type in 192.168.X.X or are you doing something else?

If you're using a windows based PC, click start and then run. Type in cmd and enter. That should bring you to a black dos like screen. Type in ipconfig and hit enter. Post the results of that ipconfig up and that will tell us your IP address for the router as well as the subnet mask.

BT ( British Telecom ) Hence the BT home hub.
I get the DNS error message. And also if i try to change the settings of the PS3, when i test it, it says "unable to obtain ip address"

No when i log into my Router i use something like 81.154.70.###
Its the IP address of the actual company i think. 192.168.1.~~~ are ips from the router.

Connection-specific DNS suffix .... home
Ip add 192.168.1.64
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.1.254

you should try going to Custom settings in you PS3 settings and set a Static IP but make sure the IP you choose doesnt clash with any other computer/laptop in your house

okay so to log into your router you want to use 192.168.1.254. that will allow you to get into the router and set a static IP for your PS3, open the ports and then place that static IP in the DMZ. Once you configure the router, you'll need to configure the PS3.

You should not be logging into the router with your IP address the ISP assigns you. Routers have another IP address that you log into in order to configure. Hopefully we can get a resolution.

Have you tried running a speed test to see what your upload and download speeds are? You may not need to go through these steps. What NAT type do you have?

The Router wont let me DMZ a IP that is static. I dont even think its DMZing. But its all i can do and its listed under DMZ. It says Assign a Public IP address to a device (e.g. ps3 laptop) i cant give it to a specified IP. and when the i DMZ the device. The ip address changes, The device can no longer use its old Ip address. or from as far as ive tested any private Ip address

I know on 99% of routers. You Go on ps3. Setup a Ip manually. Go onto Router. Click DMZ. Type in the IP address you want to DMZ. and Bobs your uncle.

I got 7meg Download, 0.5meg upload. Nat type 2.
